Yo- Facts.

Well, here they are.  The absoloute, honest, hard core facts on yo-yos and yo-yoing.

Strings

Strings, the very base of the yo-yo. Truth be told, it all depends on the yo-yo, and the kind of tricks you want to do.. Strings, along with yo-yos, have changed over the years, and become more specialized. Some strings are specially designed to be super slick on the sides, but grip the bottom for transaxles. Others are made to be slick on the bottom loop for wood axles. And if you intend to have a loop master yo-yo, you best not get a super slick string. One more important thing you need to know; The strings that Infinite Illusions sells are crappy! They are flawed, break quickly, and decrease sleeps and loop counts for transaxels and fixed axels alike.  True, all yo-yo strings eventually break, but the II strings do it way too quickly.

The best yo-yo

The question isn't really, "What is the best yo-yo?", but, "What is the best yo-yo for me?". Just like strings, this depends on what kind of tricks and yo-yo style you want to do. Those budget busting, record breaking, transaxle yo-yos are probably the only ones I really want to speak out against. The reason being, no yo-yo will make you good.  Sad, but true.  Despite what Yomega Boxes may say (Ok, I admit, I'm a Yomega basher, so sue me.) no yo-yo will make you into a pro.  You make yourself into a pro.  It's a skill.  A yo-yo may make you look good, but if it's the yo-yo doing the work instead of you, you have defeated the purpose of yo-yoing. Don't get me wrong. Transaxles are okay, and I have no problem with those who use them, but no one should believe that they are awesome because they can do the Atom Bomb with a Henry Viper. Transaxles (this part is my opinion, and really doesn't belong in a facts section) should be worked up from, to a point where they are no longer needed. I'm sure you still need some help choosing the best yo-yo for you, so visit my reviews section.

A Random Fact

What if I were to ask you what the hardest trick was? Now, most would say Split the Atom without thinking.  This is simply not true.  Split the Atom, is actually a simpler version of a much harder trick known as the Atom Bomb (aka "The Atom Smasher).  Many of the older trick books list the Atom Bomb as Split the Atom.  If you want more details click here and look in the tricks section, and go to Split the Atom.

The Best Yo-yoist

Ah, now of all the things I've said, this one could get me in the most trouble (next to all the Yomega bashing I've been doing).  I can't say the best yo-yoer.  I mean, there are the latest champions, like Jennifer Babybrook and Alex Garcia, and then there are the legends of Yo, like Arne Dixon, Mark Mcbride, and Dale Oliver.  You can't say who's the best, since there has been such a huge advancement in yo-yo technology.  The invention of transaxles, the innovation of the rim-weighted design, and the list goes on (and on and on and on), but I don't want to make a judgement based on how little I know, and how much there is to know.
