Princess Toadstool is sitting outside of Mario's house. Then, suddenly, Bowser was at it again, and kidnaped Toadstool. Mario in attempts to rescue the Princess, went to Bowser's Keep. He defeats Bowser, and was so close to retriving the Toadstool when...BOOSH!!! A large sword sent Mario, Bowser and Princess flying in different directions. Later on, Mario meets Mallow. A tadpole that really dosen't look like a tadpole, joins his journey to find his real parents. Sooner in the game the two meet Geno. A spirit that took the form of a doll to retrive "Star Pieces". Geno explains about the "Star Road" and the importance of these seven stars. More into the game they meet Bowser, who joins the team as well. Then shortly later they rescue the princess. They travel many places to get the stars, and finally they meet Smithy.
