Jon Mick

The artist is located in the New York City area. He has been painting since the 1980's. In addition to art, he is an inventor and former wall street executive.

His work has been compared to Patrick Nagel but he has own distinctive style beyond Nagel's fashion illustration like pieces. Patrick Nagel was an "honorary" art director for Playboy magazine. The magazine included his "high fashion illustrations" on unknown models who were mostly brunettes with black hair. They were used in articles sections that everyone has read. (Since no one looks at the pictorials :) Joan Collins had a famous portrait by Patrick Nagel and was used on the set of Dynasty. One of the few celebrity portraits. Mick almost exclusively does celebrity portraits as opposed to Nagel works. Also, his works are hand painted in acrylics as opposed to airbrushed and stenciled. His use of color has a distinct haunting presence.

Mick was "inpired" by Nagel at an art gallery showing near New York University in the 80's. He painted 2 copies and several Nagel inspired works of his own including a Polynesian woman, a Geisha, a work titled "Woman with Long Flowing Curly Hair". However, he dropped art and went on to pursue a technology career on Wall Street. Recently, he has become painting again with impressive results using his own style but reminscint of Mr. Patrick Nagel.
