KS Spidey (6:53:01 PM): I have to bolt in about 8 minutes.
Jonlen2000 (6:53:04 PM): my arbitrage trading got shut down
Jonlen2000 (6:53:08 PM): I almost got suspended
KS Spidey (6:53:10 PM): What?
KS Spidey (6:53:13 PM): Why?
Jonlen2000 (6:53:35 PM): supposedly there's some type of federal law against making a profit from the food of a publicly funded school
Jonlen2000 (6:54:33 PM): today there was some guy who looked like a PE coach sitting by the table I sell at, but he didn't seem too important, so I sold it anyway, a
pie and a half into it, Mrs. Kowalsky comes up and alerts me that I'm breaking a federal law
Jonlen2000 (6:54:49 PM): then she escorts me to a closet in the cafeteria where I must leave my pizzas 'til the end of lunch
Jonlen2000 (6:55:25 PM): she lets me take what I'm going to eat, so I'm going to take a bunch to try to cut my losses, I have two and I open a new box, and she says
"I think one more is enough."
Jonlen2000 (6:55:39 PM): I get 4 slices and she says that she's going to watch to make sure I eat them all
Jonlen2000 (6:56:02 PM): so for the rest of lunch she and a couple more administrators stand 30 feet from me while I eat
Jonlen2000 (6:56:10 PM): after she has me take the pizza to her office...
Jonlen2000 (6:56:20 PM): "do your parents know that you're doing this"
Jonlen2000 (6:56:23 PM): "yeah"
Jonlen2000 (6:56:29 PM): "and what do they think about it"
Jonlen2000 (6:56:35 PM): (20 second pause)
Jonlen2000 (6:56:42 PM): "they think it's ok?" (said by her)
Jonlen2000 (6:56:48 PM): "yeah
Jonlen2000 (6:56:53 PM): "I'm shocked"
Jonlen2000 (6:57:02 PM): "what is the phone # I can reach them at?"
KS Spidey (6:57:14 PM): otflmao
Jonlen2000 (6:57:51 PM): she proceeds to call my parents, and pretty much just finds out that my dad approves of everything, and she tells him I should be
suspended but I'm a smart kid and she doesn't want to go 'that route'
Jonlen2000 (6:58:05 PM): so she tells him that he or my mom can pick up the pizza by the end of the day
Jonlen2000 (6:58:34 PM): and then she told me that if I ever buy food for anyone other than myself in the cafeteria again, I'll be suspended
KS Spidey (6:58:58 PM): Order the pizza from Dominos, so it comes at lunch time.
KS Spidey (6:59:18 PM): Then you're not making a profit off the school's food.
Jonlen2000 (6:59:20 PM): no good... I read the entire codebook and planner... there are 2 rules I've been breaking:
Jonlen2000 (6:59:32 PM): the codebook rule: don't break any other laws
KS Spidey (7:00:00 PM): Have people pay you off campus, just write down who takes pizza.
Jonlen2000 (7:00:17 PM): the planner rule: "No items may be sold on the school grounds by an individual. Clubs may sell only with the permission of the designated
Assistant Principal."
Jonlen2000 (7:00:41 PM): I should create an Entreprenureal Club that sells dominoes as a fundraiser all year
KS Spidey (7:00:56 PM): The selling is then done off campus, even though distribution happens at school.
Jonlen2000 (7:01:19 PM): then at the end of the year, it has a club banquet, where the $ is raffled off as doorprizes to all atendees
KS Spidey (7:01:29 PM): I have to go. Just IM me the rest of the story, I'll get back to you later.
Jonlen2000 (7:01:35 PM): that's pretty much it, ttyl
Things not addressed in this IM:
As I was escorted out of the cafeteria, Richie Abberman and Vinod John chanted "Free Jon Senn" repeatedly.
At the end of the conversation, Mrs. Kowalski said: "You'll do great in the business world, but here is different." Note the school's mission statement: "Provide an environment that enables maximum academic growth, intellectual stimulation... in order to prepare students for success in the work force ..."
San Nixon would like it to be known that if he knew that this conversation would be published he'd have said something more intelligent.
Jen Tseeng took several pictures of the selling immediately prior to the arrival of administration. The pictures are in order to include in my CalTech application.
Others have suggested suing the school for discrimination, possibly against Capitalists. (any other suggestions are appreciated :)
I'm instantly suspended if I ever buy food from the school for anyone but myself.
I did consume all 4 slices I took.
My mom did pick up the remaining 22 slices after school... it rests in my refridgerator.
I actually increased school revenue, since most of my customers wouldn't have eaten pizza otherwise.
The lunch ladies and the administrators have known about this for over a month, I think that it was the guy who I hadn't seen before at the table who was upset about it. The whole thing felt like a sting.
The next day, the school had signs that said "The school no longer sells whole pies."
My government/economics teacher has been letting me leave class 2 minutes early to buy pizza if we're not doing anything.
Mr. Bananti loves what I do and thinks it's great entrepernurship.
