This is a small sample of some of the historical costumes I've created as part of my association with the SCA.

The picture to the left is my wench type
bodice and skirt combo...probably not very
historically accurate, but it's a lot of fun to wear.

To the right is my first attempt at recreating the Shinrone gown....I realized after making it, then reading Kass McGann's research on this dress that it's absolutely riddled with historical inaccuracies. The embroidery is nice, though.

To the left is a close-up of the embroidery on the bodice.

To the left is my second attempt at the Shinrone, in this case the structure of the dress is closer to the original, but the embroidery was done very quickly with very large chunky stitches...this dress is intended as camping garb, meant to be abused. It's made of a nice middle weight wool, which keeps me warm even at cool spring and fall camping events.

This is my latest incarnatation of the Shinrone style dress.
