Dear Family and Friends,
Tim was finally discharged from St. Joe’s. We have placed him at Sunbridge
Estrella Rehab and Care in Avondale (room 406). It is only ½ mile further from
our house. Palm Valley was unable to provide the staff to give Tim his
antibiotics every six hours, so we were told about Sunbridge by the case manager
at St. Joe’s. Becky and I went to visit the facility. We were given a tour and
it was very nice. We liked the staff and the rooms and the facility in general.
It turns out that their rates are lower, too, which will help me out a lot. So,
we have decided to give Sunbridge a try. Palm Valley called me three times in
one day asking me to reconsider bringing Tim back to Palm Valley, even going as
far as matching the rates at Sunbridge! I didn’t realize that the nursing homes
were so competitive!
Tim looks really good, but hasn’t been able to respond at all since his
seizures. Every time he has been hospitalized, it has set him back. He can’t
even shut his eyes when we ask him to anymore. It is discouraging. Kay (Tim’s
mom) and her husband Jim were in town this week, and I was really hoping that
Tim could respond to her. At least he is feeling better. I think he finishes his
antibiotics tomorrow. The doctor will retest Tim in a few days to see if the
infection is gone.
