Dear Family and Friends,

Like I said yesterday, things could change today…

Danny and I went to the hospital today to visit Tim and we found his half of the room empty.  He had just been moved all the way down the hall to a private room.  Evidently, the doctor had just called the hospital to say that Tim had an infection in his urine and needed to be isolated.  Tim and his roommate are both considered to have compromised immune systems.  While the rest of us aren’t in danger of catching anything from Tim, his roommate, Abron, was susceptible to infection. You can find Tim in room 6 now.

No one seemed overly concerned about the fact that Tim had an infection.  I asked if it was a staph infection and was told that it basically was.  No new antibiotics have been ordered as of yet.  Tim is on a very powerful antibiotic already so that may be the reason why he isn’t getting anything new.  I can’t say that I am surprised that an infection turned up in his urinary tract – after the catheter problems he experienced a couple of weeks ago, I was surprised that he didn’t get an infection.  But, in visiting with Tim, he looked great.  No fever, good vitals.  His room is much roomier, so feel free to visit.

Speaking of visitors…we were blessed this week with a visit from Doug Watkins from North Carolina .  Tim and Doug have been good friends since 7th grade.  Doug was in town for his job, so he came to the hospital to visit Tim and then had dinner with our family.

Today was very special for me because Daniel was finally himself at Daddy’s room.  Ever since the accident, Dan has been so very quiet whenever we visit his daddy.  He practically speaks in whispers and acts almost afraid to come near to dad’s bedside.  I think its totally understandable.  Dad doesn’t look or act like he usually does and it is probably pretty scary for an 11 year old to behold.  I have been trying to encourage Daniel to talk to his dad, but even that is upsetting, I think, because Tim doesn’t respond very much.  Today, we were talking to Tim and rehanging pictures in the new room, and Dan was putting pictures up on the bulletin board.  He turned to his dad and said, “Hey, daddy, can you give me a thumbs up?”  Tim gave him a thumbs up and Dan got very excited.  It sort of broke the ice.  Next thing I know, Dan was teasing his dad just like he’s always done, and he even hugged his dad when he left.

Thanks for being available to pray.  I’ll keep you posted.

Love,
Carole
