Summary of the Days Play: John and Dean seemed to cope better with the course conditions and the harrassing ranger than the rest of us. John had the lowest round to date with an excellent 11 over par 83 which included 8 pars, 6 of which came in the last 9 holes. John proved that good golf was there to be played if you put your mind to it and the 39 points helped narrow the gap between John and the leaders. Meanwhile Dean was coping admirally too and had 36 points which included a birdie and 3 pars. Going into the day Chuck had a 7 shot lead, but with the course conditions too difficult for the rookie and the new lowered handicap weighing heavily on his shoulders Chuck carded a 118 for 26 points. Chuck's lead was now relinquished to Mark who shot 34 points recovering well with 21 points on the last 9 holes after scoring only 13 on the first 9. Mark now leads Chuck by 1 point, Nick and Mike both had 32 points which considering the conditions they were content with. Mark is now the overall leader with 142 points, Chuck is 1 point away, in 3rd is Dean 3 shots adrift, followed by Mike on 136, Nick 133 and John 131. This was Dean's last round and he leaves knowing that he was only 3 shots off the leaders with 2 rounds to go.
Course Review: The course was suffering badly from the recent rain which meant the condition of the fairways was terrible making some holes almost unplayable. Balls were plugging so badly on the fairways and around the greens that they could be lost. The wet turf meant and slightest fat shot was cruelly punished, and the bunkers were compacted so badly that it was like playing out of clay. It is difficult to give an opinion of the course layout that isn't tainted by the shear frustration and dislike of the course due to its condition. Added to the frustration was the encounter with the ranger who insisted on following us around and telling us to hurry up, even though there wasn't anyone else playing the course. Sure we were playing slow, mostly due to looking for balls plugged or caked in mud. I will never return to Willbrook I know that much for sure.

Most Memorable Holes: The 5th and 6th were 2 of the most memorable holes. The 5th a 369yds par 4 required a drive over water and then and approach shot to an island green. The 6th was a short par 3 of 127 yds to another island green. Although both holes were relatively short both placed a premium on accuracy with big numbers possible for an errant shot.
