Summary of the Days Play:
What a day of great scoring.   First off, congratulations to Mark for a Hole in One at the 132 yd 17th.  His nicely struck 8 iron landed about 3 feet short of the pin took 2 bounces and disappeared down the hole. That ace meant Wooly pipped Nick by 1 stroke with 97 for a 3 under handicap and 38 points.  Nick's 98 was his best round to date and was also worth 38 points.
This was a day when everyong seemed to get it together, Chuck shot another great round, this time a personal best of 104 which included four pars as well as a 9 and 10.  This equated to 45 points.  (9 under handicap).  In light of the fact that Chuck's handicap was based on only 3 previous rounds, and also becuase his last two rounds have totalled 16 under par, the handicap committee has met and he has been cut to a 30.4.
Meanwhile, Dean was not to be out done and shot another solid round under handicap with a 97 for 37 points.   Mike and John did not disgrace themselves either,  Mike's 85 for 36 points included 5 pars and 2 birdies, whilst John's 86 for one over handicap and 35 points included 4 pars and 2 birdies.   It seems today was a day when everyone got it together and  Chuck now has a 7 shot lead over Mark with Mike a further 4 shots back.
Course Review:
Make no mistake this is a great course, there is a nice variety of holes, all of which seem to be boardered either by trees or water.  The day we played, the course was very wet, being a lowland course the drainage is poor and consequently some fairways were just too wet.   The greens however, had drained well, were fairly large, quite fast and difficult to read.
Other than the fariways being waterlogged the quality of the course up keep was plain to see.  I have never seen so many greenskeepers working diligently on almost every hole.  Behind the back of the green at the short par 3 11th there had to be 10 workers stocking a 30ft long flower bed.  All in all a course that lives up to it premier status billing.

Advil Shot of the Day:
Under normal circumstances this would have gone to Mike for a 230yd 3wood over water to the 18th green (After topped tee shot 130yds).  However, the Shot of the day undoubtedly will be the shot of the week, and goes to Mark for his Hole In One.  Great shot and great memories.  It's also worth mentioning that Caledonia really is a quality course, just as an example the ranger drove by whilst we were all celebrating Mark's ace.  He asked a few questions, like, name and club used etc.  Well when we returned to the club house Mark was given a free wooden plaque which displayed a picture of the hole, was dated, and included his name and the club he used.

Most Memorable Hole:
Top of the list has to be the the 18th, a par 4 measuring 362 yds from the whites.  The main feature is the large lake it front of the green and the 120 yard carry required for the approach shot, assuming you have already hit your tee shot to the ideal lay up position.  Not only do you have the pressure of playing the hardest shot you'll face all day, but you will also do so with the knowledge that all the golfers who have already finished are sitting in the rocking chairs on the veranda watching you play.  Such is the appeal of this hole that it great to sit out on the veranda watching everyone coming in.  There is applause for those that successfully hit the green in 2 and groans and pity for those less fortunate or skillful who pay a visit or two to the lake.  Its a great hole to finish the round.
