Summary of the Days Play: It was quite a surprise to see that there were some really good scores around this track, generally much better than those around Calabash. Chuck was the "player of the day" with 43 points, a great recovery from the 27 he scored on the previous day, and enough to take him from last to equal first. Chuck put away his driver and played the short and straight game staying out of trouble and shooting a steady 57-55=112, his best score ever. Mark was the next best scorer with an impressive 39 points (3 under his handicap) and Mike had the low round of the day with a gross 85, 13 over par for 37 points and 1 under handicap. However the course did get the better of Dean, John and Rich who all struggled with 26, 27 and 28 respectively. Nick had a repectable 33 points. No matter how anyone had played everyone had thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Course Review: The whole Barefoot experience was outstanding, from the minute we arrived you could sense the quality. The bag collectors were very friendly, as were all of the staff. The course itself was fantastic, every hole was in great shape, from tee to green, including hazards. The scenery was spectacular especially around the "ruins". The Cart GPS was the most advanced I have ever seen. As I write this somewhat delayed by a few days, we have since played 2 other courses, yet I can still remember every hole and every shot at Barefoot, more than can be said for todays round at Willbrook. This course is rated by Golf Digest as 1 of the top 100 public courses in the USA. It is obvious why. I think this course should be a the top of everyones list of Myrtle courses and one I would play everytime if possible.
Advil Shot of the Day: Todays shot of the day goes to Nick. Whilst playing in the second group, Nick was approaching the 18th green, where the first group had parked up to wait and watch. Nick was playing his 6th shot to the par 5 which he thinned, the low flying ball cleared the green and was heading straight at the cart in which Mark and John were sitting. Mark spotted that the ball was heading straight at him and tried to exit the cart only to get his foot stuck under the pedal. John who was trying to hide behind Mark was then left exposed with nowhere to hide. Fortunately the ball flew through the cart and in between both Mark and John and came to rest on the bank behind them. Nick then chipped on and 2 putted for a big fat 9. I must say I have never seen Mark move so fast.

Top 3 Most Memorable Holes: As mentioned above I can remeber every hole even 3 days and 2 courses later. That speaks volumes for the course. Davis Love has made every hole significantly different from each other, thus ensuring that each one stands out in its own memorable way. The highlight of the front nine is probably a toss up between the 4th and the 6th, both of which have greens that boarder an "old ruins" (probably made 3 years ago), but impressive all the same. The back nine has many holes to chose from but I would have to say that the 2 green 11th was a really novel idea, the flag gets moved between greens each day. The 16th is a par 4 with two fairways about 20 yards apart and seperated by a steep bank and lots of bushes and long grass. I'm happy to say that I parred the 4th, 6th, 11th and 16th so maybe thats why they standout to me.
