More information on the David Letterman performance. The Street Team Newsletter said it was on the 25th, but both RockOnTV and The Late Show with David Letterman website say that it's on the 23rd. Apparently, the guys will be doing a special outside performance. If you Click here you can read the info directly from the cbs website. You're supposed to tune in at 6:15 ET on Tuesday at their website, for a broadcast. I have some questions, though. Does that mean they WON'T show their performance on the actual show? And how I am I supposed to watch this webbroadcast if I'm already planning on being at Walmart for the matchbox video at the same time? lol. More information on this will be posted if we get any more.
matchbox twenty will be interviewed at 6:30 pm eastern time on the Z100 station (in New York) on Thursday, the 25th. Anyone wanna tape that for us? We have tons of old radio interviews and in-studio performances to trade. =) Email us

Click here to read MTV article on Rob winning four BMI's for his songwriting (three of the awards were for songs off of Yourself or Someone Like You). I tried checking BMI's main site to look for any pics of Rob like they had last year, but it's not opening; we'll have to check back.
A reminder that the guys will be chatting on AOL on Monday and on Letterman on Tuesday (along with the album release and Walmart video showing).

Everyone PLEASE keep voting at MTV's TRL. It would be really great to get Bent on the countdown and keep it there these next several days. Think of how it will help the guys' sales for the first week Mad Season's out if we keep the first single on the countdown for a while! There's a link to the TRL voting page on the main page of Jones Crazy.
5/15/00 ~ This is all news that Lauren has found us from Australia!
Bent hasn't entered the charts yet but radio airplay is improving.
On Saturday 13th of May on a show called House of Hits they played the whole Bent fimclip plus there was a competition where you could win a trip for 2 to Mount Hotham (a ski resort), Mad Season, the Live from Australia video and a huge lithograph signed by every member of the band :)
This weekend Molly Meldrum is going to Orlando to interview Matchbox Twenty! Hopefully the interview will be on his show (House of Hits) in a few weeks!
The special edition Mad Season by Matchbox Twenty album is so scarce that I can't get a copy:(. I went into my record shop last Friday and the owner rang her supplier and he said that there was like 'one' (exaggeration) in the country and it was already ordered. He said he's give me a poster as a consolation. I will find a way of getting it though:) I might order through Sanity?
Lauren also scanned this pic from the May Issue of Australian Rolling Stone for Jones Crazy:

5/13/00 ~
The "Bent" video was premiered on Monday's MTV TRL. Fabulous video! It debuted on the TRL countdown the very next day (Tuesday) at number 6. Great job to everyone who's voting! It's nice to know more and more people are being exposed to the video and are hearing the song. Click here to be taken directly to the MTV voting page.
Everybody, GO TO WALMART! Lol. I've been hearing a bit about this video about matchbox twenty that they're supposed to be showing or something, but I was there today, and not only saw the new poster (with the peacocks and Rob standing), I saw the little info poster. It said that they would be showing a video 'behind all the madness' of Mad Season on Tuesday, May 23rd in their Home Entertainment Center! Check your local Walmarts for times, and don't forget that on the 22nd, there is an AOL chat scheduled with the entire band. If you don't have AOL, grab one of those free 500 hour CD's or something! It's important. Hehe.
May 23rd is going to be so busy! lol. The guys will be on David Letterman's show on the 23rd!!
Click here to go to the LAUNCH.com page for mad season. There you can listen to Bent and Bed of Lies, ' watch ' the actual video for Bent, and enter to win an autographed guitar from the guys! You have to register first, but the form is short and simple and registering is free.
If anyone has yet to see it, the latest newsletter from the matchbox twenty Street Team can be found here.
The original official matchbox20 site has been taken down and replaced with the new 'matchbox twenty website.' Adam left a little welcome note and says the full site should be divulged on May 23rd.

Tiny article about Rob: Matchbox Twenty's Thomas In A Soul State Of Mind
Heard of the magic hour in filming? Well allow us to introduce the magic hour in viewing! Next Monday, May 8 between the hours of 3 and 4pm MTVs Total Request Live will be airing the world premiere of matchbox twentys fresh new single Bent. The track is the lead single off the bands upcoming mad season by matchbox twenty release, and its already scored most-added status at radio stations across the board - from Top 40 to Alternative! Not surprisingly the subtle layered melodies, written by Grammy-winning lead singer Rob Thomas, have also already been lauded in the pages of Billboard, which concluded that well be hearing this one over the next several months and enjoying it. So be among the first to enjoy it on video and tune into MTV May 8th.
mad season by matchbox twenty releases to stores May 23.
5/3/00 ~ Most of us are on the matchbox twenty Street Team, right? Most of us have gotten the music clip URL's sent to us several times, right? Right. We'll create an 'audio section' with all the links to the song clips in the near future. But you probably all have the clips (::cough:: or the entire flipping album in online streaming audio) already, so on to other news. =)
The Bent video will be premiered May 8th on MTV's TRL
The InStyle Celebrity Weddings special television event with Rob and Marisol as one of the features will also be on May 8. The time is 8/7 central on ABC.
The entire band will be chatting on AOL on May 22nd, 7:00 pm ET! If you have AOL, go to keyword: LIVE for more info!
matchbox twenty is also Artist of the Month of May for AOL Entertainment
There is a new picture of the band in the June issue of Spin. Moby is on the cover.
Site news: the next Writing Club installment is being worked on and will be up by the end of the week. I apologize for the delay this time! This next month is going to be extremely busy for a lot of people, and Christina and I will be extremely busy ourselves. We're not going to stop updating or close the site; we are not going to put it on hiatus. Just be patient with us until the end of May. PLEASE, check out the Jones Crazy message boards for news, as we will sometimes post it there before updating the news and site. It's much quicker to post a note with the news in there sometimes, and this month we just might do that a few times. So check for latest news in the message boards if the site hasn't been udpated! Thank you!
4/25/00 ~ New article at Atlantic Records: Billboard Happy to Get Bent with matchbox twenty
Mention of Rob and Marisol's wedding feature for InStyle magazine at CDnow.com. Click here to read.
Brief article from q101.com: Fan Only Club Tour
We've noticed several music and radio sites have been adjusting to the name 'change' ... remember to start searching for both matchbox 20 and matchbox twenty when looking for info - otherwise, you might miss the latest articles posted.
4/22/00 ~ A few pictures from InStyle magazine have been posted. You can view them by clicking here. We only scanned a few, and there are so many in the magazine, so hurry up and get your own copy (only $3.50 and the magazine is over 540 pages). There's a wonderful three page article included in the issue.
On May 8th, a show called Celebrity Weddings: In Style will be on ABC at 8:00 pm ET; it will have Rob and Marisol's wedding as one of the featured celibrity weddings! This information is from RockOnTV (click on the link to read more information on the May 8th episode).
4/21/00 ~ matchboxtwenty.com has posted tour dates and a place to listen to Bent in three formats.
The guys should be shooting the video for the new single soon (if they haven't already), and it should be premiering in early May.
There's an article on the band in Rolling Stone magazine. It's the issue with Sarah Michelle Gellar on the cover, and the article, Matchbox Twenty Times Two, is on page 29.
InStyle magazine should be available on April 24th. Some people already have it, and I would have it too, except that no stores here have the latest copy.... So no pictures posted yet. The issue with Heather Locklear on the cover is the one with a feature on Rob's wedding with Marisol. There should be plenty of new pictures (new to us anyway).
matchbox twenty will grace the cover of the next edition of LAUNCH. If anyone has any information on when it comes out and how to get a hold of it, please email us.
4/16/00 ~ The Bent single should be available for purchase in at least a few places on May 1st. The track listing is Bent, Don't Let Me Down (live), and Busted. This is listed at cdeurope.com. (Thanks Stephanie!!)
At rollingstone.com there is a 'Battle of the Bands' going on between matchbox twenty and No Doubt. It's just an online voting poll, but thought it would be good to post it. Right now, the matchsticks are behind by a couple thousand votes.... But it's probably because the No Doubt album just came out and mb20's is still a month away, right? Right. =)
4/12/00 ~ Bent should now be playing on radio stations nationwide today! Start those call-in requests. We are in the process of constructing a Radio Request page, so anyone who has a radio station that broadcasts online and has a page to submit song requests by email, go ahead and the link so we can add it.
In this month's Teen People a picture of Rob with Kid Rock can be found. It was taken at the Grammy's. (Thanks Cleo!)
A round-up of some of the articles about matchbox twenty in the past few days:
Site news: Jones Crazy will be holding a 'mad season' chat on Thursday, May 25th. Please Click here for more info!
4/11/00 ~ Go here to see how the new official matchbox twenty website looks like (Granted, it's only the main page, but it has the new poster and a place to sign up to be notified when the site finally goes up)!
The guys just might be on MTV's TRL tomorrow (Wednesday, April 12th). Get your VCR's ready! This is the article that came from Atlantic Records:
Dont Miss
matchbox twenty on MTVs TRL Tomorrow
Apr 11, 2000
Chomping at the bit to hear the new tracks off mad season by matchbox twenty? Well a lucky crew of about 150 recently witnessed the debut of the bands new material onstage at a kickin barbecue style event in Buellton, CA. The fiesta took place at matchbox twentys manager's ranch, and the brand new Angry kicked off a setlist loaded with gems from the bands upcoming release. Included was the title track mad season, as well as the rock riffs of the lead single Bent. Also played: the ballad-like Last Beautiful Girl and the more rocked-out Black & White People alongside If Youre Gone and Crutch all off the upcoming album. But the band looked over their shoulders as well, visiting their smash hits 3AM, and Push, as well as Real World, and Long Day from matchbox twentys 1996 debut YOURSELF OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU.
Feelin like you missed out? Dont be bummed, heres your chance to slip behind the velvet rope! Tune into MTVs Total Request Live tomorrow at 3:30PM and youll see footage of the bands performance which included classic tracks like 3AM and Push as well as a wealth of material off the upcoming release, including the lead single Bent and the rocking title track mad season. To hear the whole album youll have to wait until its May 23rd release date, or watch for the bands upcoming Spring club tour.
CDnow.com has two different pics of the new album. The one with white background that is posted further down here in the news section is the "Limited Edition" copy and this one supposedly is the regular CD.

MTV has a new article on the band! Click here to read it, and it also has video footage of the band performing. Yay! It's not the greatest quality and the camera's far away from them, but hey, you can definitely tell they're performing a new song!
4/10/00 ~ Anyone who hasn't heard Bent yet or doesn't have it on tape and wants to hear it right now, Go Here! Q101Radio Chicago has posted the whole song! Woo hoo. You can listen to the complete single there.
4/7/00 ~ Looks like Bent might not be playing until next Wednesday (April 12th) for most of us. Don't fear, though. You can listen to a tiny clip of the song b93fm.com. (Thanks to Tammy for letting us know about this!)....
AND here are the lyrics for the whole song! This is from Christine of the Just Hang website! Thanks so much for letting us post this. Please, no one take these lyrics until you first contact Christine and ask permission, because she's the one who typed up the lyrics from what she heard on the radio.
Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together
Keep breaking me in
And this is how we will live
With you and me bent
If I couldn't sleep
could you sleep
Could you paint me better off
Could you sympathize with my needs
I know you think I need a lot
I started out clean but I'm jaded
Just falling
Just breaking the skin
Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together
Keep breaking me in
And this is how we will live
With you and me bent
If I couldn't sleep could you sleep
Could you paint me better off
Could you sympathize with my needs
I know you think I need a lot
I started out clean but I'm jaded
Just falling
Just breaking the skin
Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together
Keep breaking me in
And this is how we will live
With you and me bent
With you and me bent
Start bending me
It's never enough
Till I feel all your pieces
Start bending me
Keep bending me until I'm completely broken in
Shouldn't be so complicated
Just touch me and then
Just touch me again
Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together
Keep breaking me in
And this is how we will live
With you and me ending
Without understanding
Hell, I'll go there again
Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together
Yeah, you're breaking me in
And this is how we will live
With you and me bent
- USA Today has club

Site news: We're going to be changing a few things around, and hopefully making a frames version of Jones Crazy in the near future. I was getting tired of courier font, so I'm changing it to Arial for now. Just in case you noticed that, that's why. =)
4/1/00 ~ Click Here to read a new article/interview with Matt Serletic from SonicNet.com! It gives a little more insight into the album and the first single. After hearing Matt explain Bent a little bit more, it's only sounding better! Has everyone picked up the Billboard Magazine yet? =)

June 11; Nuremberg, Germany; Rock Im Park
June 12; Hamburg, Germany; Grosse Freiheit 36
June 15; London, UK; Apollo Hammersmith

3/29/00 ~ Matchbox 20 Reveal Album Details From Spin.com
Mad Season, Matchbox 20's long-awaited follow up to their multi-platinum, 1996 debut Yourself or Someone Like You is finally ready for a May 23 release on Atlantic Record. According to th April 1 issue of Billboard, the album's 13 tracks consist of an eclectic array of rockers like "Stop" (not a Jane's Addiction cover, mind you), ballads("Bed of Lies"), and ambitious forays into uncharted genres like orchestral jazz (the album closer "You Won't Be Mine," even features a 68 piece orchestra). Band leader Rob Thomas wrote all the material (the predominant theme of which is apparently relationships and their inevitable highs and lows), except for "The Last Beautiful Girl" and "Bed of Lies," which were co-written with Mad Season's producer Matt Serletic (who also produced Yourself...). Matchbox drummer Paul Doucette co-wrote "Stop." Here's the complete track list. Matchbox 20 reportedly plan to begin touring in support of the new disc in either late Spring or Summer. Check Noise soon for solid details as we get them.
3/26/00 ~ The new single is definitely Bent and it will hit radio (Pop and Rock stations) on April 7th!
There will be a new website which will be at matchboxtwenty.com but it's still under construction right now. When it is up, there will be contests to win tickets to the upcoming club tour, and other chances to purchase tickets to tours.
Matchbox twenty has changed their name slightly; they'll be spelling the 20 out from now on.
The article/interview with Rob in Billboard Magazine is not the March 25th issue. Believe me; I went to at least four different stores trying to find it. It should be next week's edition, so be sure to check it out! Keep checking back.
3/25/00 ~ The track list that we posted on March 22nd is now official! Those are the names of the songs that we will be listening to in less than two months. The new album cover will look exactly like this:
![]()
This is all coming from the Atlantic Records website. They also say that matchbox20 is on the cover of Billboard Magazine with an interview with Rob inside. He supposedly talks about nearly all thirteen songs in it! When one of us gets the magazine today (if we can find it), we'll be sure to give you all more info about it and what it includes. Atlantic also says that the first single will be Bent, which Rob calls a love song and a rock song; it has a hopeful tone. We don't know about Black and White People anymore....
3/22/00 ~ We now have a possible track listing for Mad Season by Matchbox Twenty!! Okay, this is not official, and we are not saying that it is either! No one has posted anything at the official site yet. But, this comes from ICE Magazine (If anyone has a website, email address, or snail mail address for this magazine, Email Us so that we can post it here. The (possible) track listing is:
Angry, Black and White People, Crutch, Last Beautiful Girl, If You're Gone, Mad Season, The Burn, Rest Stop, Bent, Bed of Lies, Leave, Stop, You Won't Be Mine.
There are thirteen tracks listed -- two of which (Rest Stop and Black and White People) have been performed in concert before. The first single is set to be Black and White People. It supposedly has horn layerings and a brass section present.
Adam updated the postcards on Sunday. Go to the Official Site if you haven't checked that out already.
Also, the club tour should only last about a month and start in mid-May. And all under-agers, don't fret. Although nothing has been mentioned, they'll probably tour more for album promotion later in the summer -- and that means actual touring, not club-hopping. Besides, if this tour lasts only a month, how many locations can they possibly hit anyway? So everybody keep their ears open, and for now, enjoy the coming of the album!
3/11/00 ~ Kyle has been doing some side work! He plays guitars on four tracks (Spaceship, Gravity, Beautiful, and Swell) for the debut album The American by Angie Aparo which was released March 7th. Check out Angie Aparo's official site by clicking here. Excellent lyrics and a nice, different sound. Adrienne recommends it! Hehe. If you can spare some money for a CD get the album and support Kyle! Listen to the two songs at the official Angie Aparo site and see if you'd like his kind of music. He's really a great artist. Matt Serletic produced the album and also does keyboards, piano, background vocals and percussion for it!
