Go to the class web site at http://www.geocities.com/jonesbhs

Click on Enzymes and Macromolecules   on the left side of the page

Go to Lew-Port’s Biology Place

Take notes on each frame and then click next.

When you get to the  ”Enzyme Menu “ complete each of the four sections.  Watch the videos and comparisons.

 

Go to How Enzymes Work

Watch the video and answer the following questions.

1.        What is the name of the place on the enzyme that fits with a specific substrate?

2.        What is a substrate?

3.        What is formed by the binding of the enzyme and the substrate?

4.       How do the interactions between enzyme and substrate change the substrates?

5.       What is a product?

6.       What happens to the enzyme after the product is released?

Press “set up”

Press “start “ and watch the animation

Press “stop”

Change the amount of enzyme by pressing the right arrow.  Press “start” and watch the video.  Press “stop”.  Describe the change in the reaction.

Change the amount of enzyme back to one and increase the amount of substrate.  Continue in the same manner  describing the change in the reaction with each change in  one factor in the reaction.
