3
things a father should give and three things every child needs: Affirmation,
Approval, Affection
New teaching that
was learned:
·
The basis of our brokenness is lack of trust and lack of reliance upon
God to meet our needs.
·
Our spirit is justified at
salvation. We are saved. We are in a process called sanctification. We are being saved. One day we will be saved called glorified.
·
Fall in love with Spirit, Soul, and Body of an individual. In this order. If opposite order, it can be
dangerous.
·
You
are only sick as your secrets.
·
Guilt says "I made a mistake". Shame says, "I am a mistake". Satin wants us to feel shame.
·
No specialist can heal the broken hearted. Only Jesus can.
·
Prior
to Christ everyone was saved through faith in God. It was accreditted
to Abraham as righteousness.
·
A Saul leader is concerned more about what people think
of them then a David leader who is concerned with what the Father thinks of
Him.
·God made us upright beings so that
we can look up to HIM.
·
Mom gives a sense of being. Dad gives a sense of identity.
·
Unbelievers will impact us even when we are trying to impact them.
Practically apply
teaching of the week in life how:
·
Must allow God to dig up stuff in my life so that I can be restored in
health and healing.
·
In
forty years how different will I appear to others? They will know I am different by the fruit in
have produced and beared.
·
When interpreting scripture, look at 3 scriptures before and after.
·
I must take down the
walls in my life by placing them at the foot of the cross.
·
Guys can be islands. Must
interact with guys to destroy islands.
·
In the Parable of the Lost son,
The older son didn't really know his father.
When he came from the field, he didn't ask the father what was going on
but asked someone else. When something new comes up in life, do I ask the Father
what's going on or do I ask others?
·
Can't look at something to blame.
Must take personal responsibility for self.
Character study:
Unchanging
In
Exodus 3:13-15 we can read that the Egyptians had many gods by many
different names. Moses wanted to know God’s name so the Hebrew people would
know exactly who had sent him to them. God called himself, I AM, a name
describing his eternal power and unchangeable nature. In a world where values,
morals, and laws change constantly, I can find stability and security in my
unchanging God. The God who appeared to Moses is the same God who can live in me
today. Hebrews 13:8 says God is the same “yesterday and today and forever.”
Because God’s nature is stable and trustworthy, I am free to follow and enjoy
him rather than spend my time trying to figure him out.
In
Exodus 3:14-15 Yahweh is derived from the Hebrew word for “I AM.”
God reminded Moses of his covenant promises to Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3; Genesis
15; Genesis 17), Isaac (Genesis 26:2-5), and Jacob (Genesis 28:13-15), and used
the name I AM to show his unchanging nature. What God promised to the
great patriarchs hundreds of years earlier he would fulfill through Moses.
Memory Verse:
Luke 4:18-19
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me, for he has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to
proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the
downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors, [19] and that the time of the
Lord's favor has come."
Meditation on Memory
Verse:
Jesus came and
fulfilled this prophecy from Isaiah. He
said that I would do greater things then He did. If that it is so, I will also
be empowered by the Holy Spirit to: share the gospel to the poor in spirit, to
assist those captive in sin to be set free from their bondages and in doing so
they will be able to see through eyes of freedom, and also let all know that it
is time to enjoy the favor of the Lord in a state of peace and freedom during
the midst of a chaotic world.
