Speaker’s Name: Mark Parker

Date: 10/18/04 – 10/21/04

Speaker’s Key Theme:  The Lordship of Christ is a choice of lifestyle in a believer.

Ideas, theories, methods of confirmation of what already believed used by the speaker:

  • Lordship speaks of Jesus as ruler.
  • Dying to self is the opening door of Lordship.
  • Feelings can’t rule us. Must follow the Lord.
  • Jesus must clean up our lives. We can’t clean up our lives.
  • He wants to take possession of me and fulfill God’s purpose in my life.
  • God’s plan is for no one to parish but to have eternal life.
  • The Spirit brings revelation and conviction.  Satan brings condemnation, accusation, and deception.
  • When receiving revelation we should ask God a question so that the mind will kick in.  Then move forward in action.

New teaching that was learned:

  • Can’t lose salvation, walk away from Him.
  • In the Bible people dropped forward not backwards.
  • Its not about bless me, but bless thee.
  • How mature you are determines how much Jesus lives in you.
  • Time never heals, Jesus does.
  • Lordship is about God’s love and us fulfilling his purpose.  It’s not about our calling but God’s plan for our lives.
  • Miracles will not make a person mature.
  • Healing will not make a person holy.
  • Deliverance will not make a person into a disciple.
  • Beliefs dictate values, which lead to action, to habits, to character, destiny purpose will be dictated.
  • Humility brings spiritual authority.
  • Open humble heart gives more grace.
  • The devil hates intimacy so fear is brought on us so that we will not be open with each other.  Therefore we will not walk humbly in grace.
  • Grace is killed by idols.
  • Americans need to learn to FEAR the LORD, not just Love the Lord.
  • Fear the Lord and Love the Lord goes together.
  • What you fear is what you worship.
  • Fear is the highest form of worship.
  • Jesus said worship him ALONE!
  • When we resist God and want yield to Him, sin shall return in an individual’s life.
  • 3 Main attributes that affect Christians: pride, unbelief, and independence

·        Righteousness is believing in God.

·        Self analysis is bad, self awareness is good.

·        If open to the Holy Spirit, will have a great understanding and revelation of God’s Word.

·        Submission is for protection.

·        The key to get out rebellion is submit to God.

·        If we are in submission, God will protect us.

·       Sow a thought reap an action – sow an action reap a habit – sow a habit reap a character – sow a character reap a destiny.

Practically apply teaching of the week in life how:

  • Jesus is going to look through my temple. I must let Him in my temple. I must come yielded before God.
  • I don’t want to just survive, but push through in the Christian life.
  • I am learning to serve and obey during this time of my life.
  • When I get frustrated, there something about me that needs to be worked out.
  • Being real with God is important when denying myself and taking up the Cross.
  • I don’t deserve anything better than anyone else.

Character study:

Jealous – envy, protectiveness, covetousness

Nahum 1:2

The Lord is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and wrath. He takes revenge on all who oppose him and furiously destroys his enemies!

1:2 God alone has the right to be jealous and to carry out vengeance. Jealousy and vengeance may be surprising terms to associate with God. When humans are jealous and take vengeance, they are usually acting in a spirit of selfishness. But it is appropriate for God to insist on my complete allegiance, and it is just for him to punish unrepentant evildoers. His jealousy and vengeance is not based on selfishness. Their purpose is to remove sin and restore peace to the world.

Deut. 4:24

The Lord your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.

4:24 God is a consuming fire. Because he is morally perfect, he hates sin and cannot accept those who practice it. Moses’ sin kept him from entering the promised land, and no sacrifice could remove that judgment. Sin keeps me from entering God’s presence, but Jesus Christ paid the penalty for my sin and removed God’s judgment forever by his death. Trusting in Jesus Christ saves me from God’s anger and allows me to have a personal relationship with him.  Jealousy is a demand for someone else’s exclusive affection or loyalty. Some jealousy is bad. It is destructive for me to get upset when Kelli talks pleasantly with another man. But other jealousy is good. It is right for me to demand that Kelli treat me, and only me, as her husband. Usually we use the word jealousy only for the bad reaction. But God’s kind of jealousy is appropriate and good. He is defending his word and his high honor. He makes a strong, exclusive demand on me: I must treat only the Lord—and no one else in all the universe—as God.

Deut. 5:9

You must never worship or bow down to them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not share your affection with any other god! I do not leave unpunished the sins of those who hate me, but I punish the children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations.

5:9 How would I feel if someone took a picture of me, framed it, stared at it a lot, showed it to others, but completely ignored the real me?.............I would feel lonely and upset.  I know God does not want to be treated this way either. He wants a genuine relationship with me, not mere ritual. He wants me to know him. God knows that if I put anything other than Him at the center of my life, I will not reach my potential and become all that he wants me to be.

Memory Verse:

Luke 9:23-24

Then he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross daily, and follow me. [24] If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life.

Meditation:

I must lay me down. I must lay it down. I must lift Him up.  My ambitions must be lined up with the Fathers.  If they are not, I must put them aside.  I can’t follow him when my STUFF is up in my vision.  I can only follow Him when I can see Him. I must deny myself because living for myself produces death, but living for the Lord will produce a true life in me.
