This past weekend was booked full. Friday we went into Christchurch to buy gifts for the Fijians
(paper, crayons, balloons, fishing hooks, fishing line, gardening tools,
etc.). Saturday we got up early to sea
kayak. We had a little trouble finding
our way, but were still able to kayak for 2 hours. It was fun!
Yesterday, our cook, Richard and Jonathan, the registrar at the base
were confirmed at the Anglican Church.
Richard just became a Christian last year while he was cooking for the
school. Today was a busy day with
practicing for worship later this week.
We only have Wed. and Fri. worship and then we will be in Fiji on Saturday! We have enjoyed leading worship during this
school and working with a couple other musicians and singers.
This week we are studying evangelism and how
in the 60’s crusades and big evangelistic meetings were very effective, but now
friendship evangelism is more effective, such as Christians in a youth group
reaching out to their non-Christian friends.
Kelli and I will be leaving Saturday 18th early in the
morning to go to Nadi, Fiji.
We will be in Fiji from
Dec. 18th-Feb. 5th. The names of our group are Dave, Judy, Reto, Cobel, Kelly, Andy, Sara,
and Kevin. There are 5 Americans, 2
Canadians, and 3 Swiss on the team.
There are 3 girls and 7 guys.
This outreach will be more of a traditional mission trip in the since
that we will be focusing on evangelism, preaching, worshiping, healing,
deliverance, and what ever else God would like to use us for. We need your prayers for safety and God’s
guidance in His plan for us during our time in Fiji.
We will spend the first couple
of days getting orientation from the YWAM base in the city of Nadi. The first two weeks in Fiji we
will be in a Fijian village on a remote island that is one hour ferry ride
away. This island is called Ovalau and
very few tourists are allowed to go on the island, so they may have not
seen white people very much if at all.
We will basically be there to encourage the Fijians in their faith and
light a fire under them. Most of them are Christians so they have
become complacent. We will spend our
Christmas with these people. Then the
next four weeks we will be at the YWAM base in Nadi, Fiji, and
also will be staying with an Indian pastor named Pastor Provene. We
will be reaching out to the Hindu Indians.
We will be going door-to-door sharing about Jesus, doing street
evangelism, and just building relationships with the people. The Father has informed us in prayer that we
will be facing a BIG spiritual battle from the enemy during this month. The month of January will be an important
time of intercession for us as we minister and bring freedom to the
Hindus. Praise the Lord for this task. We are excited that we will be on the front
lines for the Lord. Fortunately, most of
the people in Fiji speak
English, but just in case, we will have translators if we need them. If you click on the “Team Fiji” link
on the home page you can see where we will be staying.
Please keep us in your prayers with
spiritual and physical protection, blind eyes to be open, and for ministering
opportunities. while there. Thank you for all of your prayers for
us!!! We look forward to serving these
people in love. We miss you all and pray
that you will have a wonderful Christmas break celebrating the Savior’s birth
with your families. God Bless!!!
