Recognizing our
Brokenness - Admitting Our Need
2Pe
·
Become aware of God first.
·
Must allow God to dig up stuff
in my life so that I can be restored in health and healing.
1. Our greatest need
is intimacy with and reliance on our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ.
Gen 3:7-14 And the
eyes of both of them were opened. And they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together
and made girdles for themselves. (8) And they
heard the voice of Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And
Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Lord God in the middle of
the trees of the garden. (9) And Lord
God called to Adam and said to him, Where are you? (10) And he
said, I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was
afraid, because I am naked, and I hid
myself. (11) And He said, Who
told you that you were naked? Have you
eaten of the tree which I commanded you that you should not eat? (12) And the man said, The
woman whom You gave to be with me, she
gave me of the tree, and I ate. (13) And Lord
God said to the woman, What is this you have done? And the woman said, The
serpent deceived me, and I ate. (14) And Lord
God said to the serpent, Because you have done this
you are cursed more than all cattle, and
more than every animal of the field. You shall go upon your belly, and you
shall eat dust all the days of your life.

When sin entered the earth, shame, fear, blame, and pain entered the
earth.

The basis of our brokenness is
lack of trust and lack of reliance upon God to meet our needs.
"The rift begins when we
suspect God of not being good to us. From there, we gradually talk ourselves
out of the security His presence gives. Faith is the Bibles word for our side
of the relationship with God. It
describes the part we play. And the rift
comes when we distort or weaken our faith." -William Backus.
·
When we believe the devils lies and old nature,
they become our doubts and beliefs.
2. Dealing with the real issues - those of the
heart
So
many of us lack truth:
·
We often don't really know God - often we have a
perverted idea of who
he is because of our own earthly fathers or because of wrong teaching.
·
We often don't know who we are - our identity has
been shaped by our upbringing - words spoken over us etc.
·
We often don't really know whats going on - we
just react to each situation without seeing the roots.
Truth
=
·
Knowing who God is
·
Knowing who we are
·
Knowing what is going on
Spirit
- Rom
·
Our spirit
is justified at salvation.
We are saved.
Soul - 1Th
·
We are in a process called sanctification. We are being saved.
Body - 2Th 1:9-10 who
shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord
and from the glory of His power, (10) when He
shall come to be glorified in His saints and to be admired in all those who
believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that Day.
1Co 15:50-54 And I say
this, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the
kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption. (51) Behold, I speak a mystery to you; we shall
not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed; (52) in a
moment, in a glance of an eye, at the last trumpet. For a trumpet shall sound,
and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed. (53) For this corruptible must put on
incorruption, and this mortal must put
on immortality. (54) But when this corruptible shall put on
incorruption, and when this mortal shall put on immortality, then
will take place the word that is written, "Death is swallowed up in
victory.
·
One day we will be saved called glorified.
·
Fall in
love with Spirit, Soul, and Body. In
this order. If opposite order, it can be dangerous.
·

with the issues of the heart before moving on.
·
You are only
sick as your secrets.

4.
What we do to survive?
·
Must face
our pain.
·
God wants us to allow him to fix what is causing
an individual limp through life.
·
People either build a bridge over pain or lid
over the pain or they can deal with it with God's help.
Two
profound areas of difficulty in every person
·
Our spirituality - our wellspring for God, our
need for God
·
Our sexuality - our wellspring for one another
·
Both of are from GOD.
