James 5:16

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.

Coming into presence of God

In the Old Testament things are physical, New Testament things are spiritual.

OT Law is written on tablets, NT Law is written in our hearts.

OT physical temple, NT my body is a temple

OT physical warfare, NT spiritual warfare

OT physical sacrifice, NT broken and contrite Spirit

OT physical kingdoms, NT Kingdom of God

OT Passover meal, NT Communion the Last Supper

Ezekiel 36:25-29

"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. Your filth will be washed away, and you will no longer worship idols. [26] And I will give you a new heart with new and right desires, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony heart of sin and give you a new, obedient heart. [27] And I will put my Spirit in you so you will obey my laws and do whatever I command.

[28] "And you will live in Israel, the land I gave your ancestors long ago. You will be my people, and I will be your God. [29] I will cleanse you of your filthy behavior. I will give you good crops, and I will abolish famine in the land.

    Hebrews 8:5

They serve in a place of worship that is only a copy, a shadow of the real one in heaven. For when Moses was getting ready to build the Tabernacle, God gave him this warning: "Be sure that you make everything according to the design I have shown you here on the mountain."

    1 Cor. 15:46-47

What came first was the natural body, then the spiritual body comes later. [47] Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven.

    Exodus 25:8

"I want the people of Israel to build me a sacred residence where I can live among them.

·        God wants to dwell among us.

·        God wanted free hearted people to come and build the tabernacle.

·        Satan can quote scripture too.  God wants us to KNOW Him.

Must enter through the gate with thanksgiving which is Jesus then enter into his courts with praise which is for God’s people.  Then go to the Alter.

  • It is quite outside of the gate. It gets louder when entering the gates.
  • Praise is to tell God who He is.  Psalm 145
  • Alter –
  • Leviticus 17:11
  •     for the life of any creature is in its blood. I have given you the blood so you can make atonement for your sins. It is the blood, representing life, that brings you atonement.

  • The fruit of pride is deception.

  Obadiah 1:3

You are proud because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains. 'Who can ever reach us way up here?' you ask boastfully. Don't fool yourselves!

LOOK at KELLI’s

Pride – don’t forgive, anger, lonely, stubbornness, fear of man, humiliated, competitive, perfectionism, self righteous, compare, resentful, judgmental, independence, complaining, envy, sarcastic jokes, unteachable, impulsive

·        Righteousness is believing in God.

James 4:6-8

He gives us more and more strength to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say,

"God sets himself against the proud,

but he shows favor to the humble."

[7] So humble yourselves before God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. [8] Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, you hypocrites.

·        Can’t hide your feelings in worship.

Repentance: repent then believe then understand

Must repent first.

Repentance is coming HOME.  In Hebrew, turning or returning. In Greek, changing of the mind.

True repentance: what is required?

  1. Discerning the Sin - Revelation from God and recognize my sin as what it is.  Must pass out of self deception. Need conviction from the Holy Spirit.
  2. Desiring - Looking for forgiveness, done with regret remorse for what done to God.   Contrite = regret sin prompted by a love for God, attrition = regret for sin prompted by a fear for yourself.  Metanoein – total change of mindset, true repentance and is Godly sorrow; ex Luke 15:32; Metamelein – do with emotions, worldly sorrow that is not true repentance and leads to death; ex Esau Hebrew 12:16-17, Matt 27:3-4 Judas
  3. Decide - acknowledge of sin
  4. Dealing – Confess and renounce and asking for forgiveness
  5. Demonstrating – showing through my life that I have changed and moved away from that things, restitution: giving back and going back to people and getting it right

    • Self analysis is bad, self awareness is good.
    • Can’t enter into the fullness of the kingdom if there is unbelief.
    • Unbelief brings forth idols.

    • Faith – hear and obey

Reasons people disobey God

  1. Wrong mind set of who God is.
  2. Question all about His Word.
  3. Partially obey.

    • If open to the Holy Spirit, will have a great understanding and revelation of God’s Word.
    • With hearing, must obey.

    • The key to get out rebellion is submit to God.
    • Submission is for protection.

Romans 13:5

So you must obey the government for two reasons: to keep from being punished and to keep a clear conscience.

1 Peter 2:13

For the Lord's sake, accept all authority—the king as head of state,

  • If we are in submission, God will protect us.

Luke 2:49-52

"But why did you need to search?" he asked. "You should have known that I would be in my Father's house." [50] But they didn't understand what he meant.

[51] Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them; and his mother stored all these things in her heart. [52] So Jesus grew both in height and in wisdom, and he was loved by God and by all who knew him.

Hebrews 5:7-9

While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could deliver him out of death. And God heard his prayers because of his reverence for God. [8] So even though Jesus was God's Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. [9] In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.

  • Individual has guilt they must ask for forgiveness and know true forgiveness and then give forgiveness.
  • Anger then blame then sin.

  • Shame brings forth hiding.  Must accept unconditional love and Forgive yourself and bring the sin into the light.

·       Sow a thought reap an action – sow an action reap a habit – sow a habit reap a character – sow a character reap a destiny.

·       All Sin is YUCK!!!
