Life begins with a decision.  So that it will be radical.

Who rules your life?  That dictates everything.

Lordship – what do you want, need, or what will hinder

I don’t see dirt, but I see GOLD in a person.

Lordship speaks of Jesus as ruler.

Dying to self is the opening door of Lordship.

Being in the Kingdom ruled by the King.

Can’t lose salvation, walk away from Him.

Feelings can’t rule us. Must follow the Lord.

His view of salvation is repentance, receive the Holy Spirit, and water Baptism.

Can’t tell God how many children I want.  People pray about their spouse and then tell God how many children they want.

In the Bible people dropped forward not backwards.

Its not about bless me, but bless thee.

Mark 10:17-22

As he was starting out on a trip, a man came running up to Jesus, knelt down, and asked, "Good Teacher, what should I do to get eternal life?"

[18] "Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked. "Only God is truly good. [19] But as for your question, you know the commandments: 'Do not murder. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not testify falsely. Do not cheat. Honor your father and mother.' "

[20] "Teacher," the man replied, "I've obeyed all these commandments since I was a child."

[21] Jesus felt genuine love for this man as he looked at him. "You lack only one thing," he told him. "Go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." [22] At this, the man's face fell, and he went sadly away because he had many possessions.

Surrender is an attitude of being. Surrender is yield to the Lord. I might be in control not controlling.

The thing I hate the most, I’ll do the most.

Must lay down on the alter and pick up on the alter.  Sometimes God will burn up those things laid down.

Tabernacle – lecture phase getting everything out: very bloody, Holy place: outreach, Most Holy: intimacy

1 Cor. 6:19

Or don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,

How mature you are determines how much Jesus lives in you.

1 Peter 2:5

And now God is building you, as living stones, into his spiritual temple. What's more, you are God's holy priests, who offer the spiritual sacrifices that please him because of Jesus Christ.

1 Cor. 3:16-17

Don't you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? [17] God will bring ruin upon anyone who ruins this temple. For God's temple is holy, and you Christians are that temple.

Matthew 21:12-13

Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out the merchants and their customers. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the stalls of those selling doves. [13] He said, "The Scriptures declare, 'My Temple will be called a place of prayer,' but you have turned it into a den of thieves!"

Jesus must clean up our lives. We can’t clean up our lives.

Jesus is going to look through my temple. I must let Him in my temple. I must come yielded before God.

Jeremiah 18:1-2

The Lord gave another message to Jeremiah. He said, [2] "Go down to the shop where clay pots and jars are made. I will speak to you while you are there."

Isaiah 45:9

"Destruction is certain for those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot ever argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, 'Stop, you are doing it wrong!' Does the pot exclaim, 'How clumsy can you be!'

Come as an empty vessel.

Why does He want to come in a dwell in us?

Matt 28 and Mark 16

He wants to take possession of me and fulfill God’s purpose in my life.

Time never heals, Jesus does.

Ephes. 1:15-20

Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for Christians everywhere, [16] I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, [17] asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. [18] I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the wonderful future he has promised to those he called. I want you to realize what a rich and glorious inheritance he has given to his people.

[19] I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power [20] that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms.

Ephes. 4:1-6

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. [2] Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. [3] Always keep yourselves united in the Holy Spirit, and bind yourselves together with peace.

[4] We are all one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future. [5] There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism, [6] and there is only one God and Father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all.

Lordship is about God’s love and us fulfilling his purpose.

It’s not about our calling but God’s plan for our lives.

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Who, what, why scripture.

Who – God

What – about Jesus

Why – Save the world.

God’s plan is for no one to not parish and have eternal life.

God wants us to grow into maturity so that we can help in God’s plan that no one should parish.

Problems help us to grow up.

Judges 2:6-12

After Joshua sent the people away, each of the tribes left to take possession of the land allotted to them. [7] And the Israelites served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and the leaders who outlived him—those who had seen all the great things the Lord had done for Israel.

[8] Then Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of 110. [9] They buried him in the land he had inherited, at Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.

[10] After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel. [11] Then the Israelites did what was evil in the Lord's sight and worshiped the images of Baal. [12] They abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They chased after other gods, worshiping the gods of the people around them. And they angered the Lord.

When Joshua died and the next generation didn’t know God and did detestable things.

Verse 19 Acted justly only when judges were present.

Will not just survive, but push through in the Christian life.

Miracles will not make a person mature.

Healing will not make a person holy.

Deliverance will not make a person into a disciple.

Postmodernism – after the modern age

Old modern times, core values were taught.

Around 1960 the change from modern to postmodern.

Postmodernism is about a mindset.  Postmodernism rejects truth as absolute.  Postmodernism is subjective. People pick what they want to believe. People chose what they want to believe and do based on friends and culture.

Want to be different but the same is postmodernism.

Pick and mix truth in postmodernism.  This is dualism. Answer to dualism is peer discipleship. Positive peer pressure so you fit in.

1 Cor. 15:33

Don't be fooled by those who say such things, for "bad company corrupts good character."

Whoever you are with, you become more like.

Problem with postmodernism is consumerism and materialism.  Gospel of entertainment is a problem. Youth pastors are worn out bc of programs.  Answer: instead of entertainment is give something that is tough and worth dying for. Something to surrender to.

2 Cor. 5:15

He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live to please themselves. Instead, they will live to please Christ, who died and was raised for them.

People want relationships.

When you follow Jesus, can not do what they want to.

People live in pagan world and truth is so weak. Answer is to speak about value based discipleship.

Why important to learn values?

Beliefs dictate values, which lead to action, to habits, to character, destiny purpose will be dictated.

When beliefs change, character changes.

Acts 17 when talking to Michael about the season of the day and the way he thinks.

Discipleship is the biggest problem of this day.

Romans 12:1-10

  1. Know the character of God(people fall away from God because she was deceived)

Why is it important to know God?

1.      If you don’t know God you can’t be saved. John 17:3

2.      God wants to hear our prayers. Must pray to know God. 1 John 5:14-15

3.      Effective witness for God.

4.      Doing service for God.  Dan 11:32 Want to do great things for God.

5.      Guidance comes from knowledge of God. John 10:4  If yielded heart, he will lead you.

6.      Enables us to see ourselves as God sees us. Isaiah 6:1-5 See God and He will tell you who you are.  Matt 16:15

  1. Present body as living sacrifice when know God.  Spiritual sacrifice-Deny self. Psalm 51. He wants my heart.  Why are you here?  Wants a changing of the Heart.
  2. Transform by the renewing of the mind.  Prov 32:7, Matt 6:21, 2 Corn 10:2-5.  What you believe is what you do?  It’s not about what I like. It’s about truth.  Want to be delivered, must change a lie. Psalm 18:20-25
  3. Know God’s will. Prov 29:18, passion-to suffer, Matt 7:21, Matt 16:25,
  4. Then Humility comes.  This is critical. James 4:6  God opposes proud and gives grace to the humble.  Humility brings spiritual authority. Resist the devil by humbling my self.  Humility is being who you are, real, and transparent. Winnie the pooh to come out bring honey. To bring God out, put out humility.
  5. One Body.  Get in with a group of believers.
  6. Know your Gifts and strengths and what you are there for.
  7. Serve. Use gifts to serve others.
  8. Love.  There is too much negative unbelief taught and spoken because of fear.
