Question : After undertaking some local market research, i and another
colleague were quite astounded at the lack of coherency in the prices of a
standard can of felix cat food. In an area of approximately 3miles radius,
we found that the prices ranged from some 47 - 59 pence, this without any
promotion being involved. These are the everday prices. We have compiled a
more detailed report if you are interested in receiving a copy. However,
we think that you should know that your sales are being affected in this
locality. Also, these are leading supermarket stores of national
credibility involved, and as such we would expect some coherency. i would
be greatful on some feedback of your RRP on these items of cat food, for
which we could use when bringing the matter up with the supermarkets
concerned. Also if you would like a more active involvement in this
matter, you would be welcome to do so. Thankyou in anticipation of a

We would like to explain the process, which determines the price our
customers pay for our products. Purina Petcare suggests a recommended price
to the retailer, in the case of this product our Recommended Selling Price
is 57p. However, retailers in turn then decide upon the price at which they
will sell to their customers. Unfortunately, we have a limited control over
the price at which you buy any of our products and can merely make a
recommendation to the retailer.
