| A Page For Two Ducks | ||||||||||||||||||||
| For the past 5 or 6 years, two ducks have inhabitted our garden. Though migrating to warmer climates come the winter months (i think such climates can be found at Penns Hall!), they return to our pond every spring, and now, at long last, have decided to settle down here. In case you've not heard any of the stories i have to tell about these two animals, the first thing you need to know is their names. We have Hazel and we have Bill. The best bit of news we have had in a looooooooong time came on Tuesaday 15th April, when Hazel laid 5 legitimate eggs in her nest. Despite attacks by numerous other ducks (including a despicable incident on the evening of April 15th, which i will not go into now), she is perservering and is as i type, sitting on her nest. Bill has been enjoying the sun this afternoon. In fact the couple were happily eating away infront of both mum and dad earlier on. Lets keep our fingers crossed for those eggs - we wan't hatchiness to happen... and then a li'lle line of ducklings waddling down from the nest to the pond. heeeeeeeeee!!! :) *is excited!!!* |
