A major theme in the Harry Potter story is that of Good versus Evil. This is also a major theme of Christianity. Lucifer, commonly known as the Devil, and God, are a perfect example of good versus evil, much like Harry and Voldemort. With the use of symbolism and creativity Rowling uses this theme to explain the importance of Harrys struggle to accomplish what he is destined to be. The good represents everything he stands for, while the evil represents all that stands in his way. Very much like the idea that God was all that was good, while the devil represents something that was sadistic and evil. This battle between the two concepts is applied to many situations and scenarios within the stories. Every time Harry prevails it is a representation of good ultimately defeating evil. |
