1/2p Coin -1982- 1984
Reverse
Queens Head
The Half Penny was the smallest coin in circulation in size as well as Denomination.
The design was simple with the reverse showing the crown with 1/2pbelow and NEW PENNY at the top.
The 1/2p was issued in 1971 for gemeral circulation and was released yearly. except 1972 where the coin was only in proof sets.
In 1982 it was considered that the word NEW was now obsolete and the reverse was changed to HALF PENNY.
The half penny coin dated 1984 was only produced in proof packs.
Due to inflation the half penny was demonetised and withdrawn in December 1984.
