| The fifty pence piece was introduced in 1969 to replace the ten shilling note. In 1997 the Royal Mint issued the new smaller fifty pence piece. Like the twenty pence piece the fifty has seven sides, the sides are not straight they have a slight curve on them like th twenty. |
