In 1991 the Ramsey family moved to Boulder, Colorado. In 1992 Johns daughter, Elizabeth, was killed in a car accident in Ohio. In 1993 Patsy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Rallying on the strength they had as Christians in God Patsy fought to survive. Then in 1996 they suffered another devastating blow imaginable, their daughter was brutally murdered - her father, John, found her body in a room in the basement of their home. John and Patricia by some media reports branded as murdering their precious daughter - JonBenet.
John and Patsy Ramsey had been through tragedy in their lives yet they had never let themselves become a victim. She involved herself in charities and helping her childrens' schooling. John Andrew , Patsys half-son, remembers Patsy sitting down and making a school project with him. Johns children from his first marriage adore both John and Patsy and describe them as wonderful parents. John had started his own bussiness and worked the way up but John and Patsy never took anything for granted. They gave money to charity and friends of the Ramseys say 'if you ever said "oh I'd love ---" while Patsy was around, chances are you'd open your door the next day and there it'd be'!
Patsy even often talked about taking along extra dresses to JonBenets pageants so the other little girls could wear costumes as elobarate and expensive as JonBenets.
(This quote comes from Boulder Police District Attorney Alex Hunter - the whole story can be read at http://www-cgi.cnn.com/US/9801/11/jonbenet/ )
- Hunter is also quoted as saying poliice may not have pursued the idea that an intruder killed JonBenet because "the cops became so convinced that the Ramseys did it that they've never been able to look at the evidence objectively."
