Poetry For JonBenet
This page is dedicated to JonBenet with poems that were written with much love for JonBenet by Tim.

Untitled - My gift to JonBenet, words of love from the heart.

The twinkling stars in the clear moonlit sky
Reminds me of the glimmer
That once shown in your eye
You were so full of life, everyone could see
How could any take such a sweet angel
Away from me
Even though you hold a special place in my heart
I cannot help but feel like we're a
Million miles apart

Precious little angel with a heart of gold
You were taken away from us
On a night so cold
God saw a beautiful angel soaring
Over the wintry land and said
Come to me child, come to my hand
Let me take you to this wondrous place
Where you are free to roam through time and space
Let me take you home

Originally, I had written the following poem in sweet memory of Samantha Runnion. Samantha was brutally murdered in July 2002 by a vicious monster. Unlike JonBenet, Samantha's killer was caught and sent to prison. After reading the poem, I realized that it not only applies to Samantha, but to JonBenet, Teresa, and to every child who fell victim to such a horrible crime. I hope you post this one Melinda for it truly is extra special to me. Thanks and I hope you like it.

I'm Sorry

I'm sorry for all of the things that you will
Never get to see, never get to do
I'm sorry that you will never get to accomplish
The many wonderful things that God had
In store for you
For He is infinite in his wisdom; He truly knows best
He saw that you were suffering; He called you home to rest
I'm sorry that you suffered so, just before you died
The whole country learned of your death, many had cried
You were only five years old, an innocent little girl
One who didn't deserve such a horrible fate
At age five, six, seven, or eight
Now you are at peace in the presence of God
Basking in the warmth of His love and glory
An angel will you forever truly be
Sleep soundly little one
You are safe and worry free

Sweet Little Angel

Sweet Little Angel JonBenet
In just six short years of life, your
Beautiful smile and charming ways
Captured the hearts of many

Sweet Little Angel JonBenet
Your grace and beauty dazzled audiences from afar
Your tragic parting left many a
Person feeling so heavy hearted

Sweet Little Angel JonBenet
In life; Hundreds adored you
In death; Thousands love you

Sweet Little Angel JonBenet
To those who knew you, you will be
Remembered with fond memories and loving hearts
To those who wished they had, you will
Be remembered with fond images and loving thoughts

Sweet Little Angel JonBenet
Please take comfort in knowing that while
Your life was cut so short, you will
Never know the pain of losing one so dear
I pray that the only pain that you
Ever felt was that of a skinned knee
Cured by hugs, kisses, and a chocolate chip cookie

Sweet Little Angel JonBenet
Your unique name reminds me of the
Once beautiful princess who sang and
Danced her way into the hearts of many
It now serves as the everlasting reminder of
The forever loved, Sweet Little Angel, JonBenet

Poem by Tim

Heaven's Princess

You once walked amongst us
With smiles all a glow
With beauty and charm only one can know
Now that you are no longer here
We all continue to shed many a tear
Please don't be sad too, sweet JonBenet
Because in our hearts, we know that
You really did not go away
You are in heaven now, a place that
We have all dreamed of
Your beautiful smile and charming ways
Hit us now by means of sunrays
So please keep in mind, we will all never be apart
As you will always live forever
Deep in our hearts

A Rose's Thorns

A child once asked of me "Does a rose know its thorns can hurt?"
I told her that I did not know
She looked at me with such sad eyes, ready to burst into tears
How does something so beautful, so vibrant in color, so rich in fragrance, carry such a power?
"Why does a rose need thorns", the child asked of me, a tear running down her quivering cheek
Somehow I sensed that she knew why judging by her long, somber expression and looking into her tear-filled eyes
"We live in a not so perfect world dear child. A world filled with many dangers, relentless and unforgiving."
Will there ever be a day when we are completely free from the dangers of reality?
Will there ever be a day when one of God's simplest creations, the rose, is in no longer need of protection?
I pray there is, for at least one child's tears will cease, and a new faith in life will be restored.
