A Kingdom's Treasure
by Jonathan Tan
From a land that stands alone in time
I have traveled across this desert
To behold the Maharajah's palace
With mine eyes that come from Persia
Ten years have passed since that fateful day
Now I am king of nothing but my pain
In the palace sleeps a princess
And only in her dreams she knows my name
Do you remember the wandering soldier
When you see his face?
Chorus:
But for to change one moment
I'd live the life of a beggar
I've held the sands of time
But her beauty still torments my dreams
I've felt the glory of fire
But my thirst is gone forever
I've lost a kingdom's treasure
I know the reason for this pain
Every night and every morning
I think of what could have been
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Could you live your life in one night?
Ten years have passed since that fateful day
Where with a lie I let my love away
I need to see her one last time
I need to find forgiveness for my crime
Do you remember the crystal waters
beneath the desert sands?
(Repeat Chorus)

This song is about the videogame "Prince of
Persia: The Sands of Time". The ending to the love story in this game
is rather unexpected, and I've tried to capture the essence of it in this
song.
There are some references to Arabian music in this,
but for the most part, it is a good 'ole rock song.
