Ghost Train

by Jonathan Tan

There's a train that  leaves at midnight
and everybody wants this ride
But when we get to the station baby
there's no one else in sight

Look out the window and tell me honey,
just what you see in the fading light
Oh, we'll leave all our troubles behind
and ride off into the sunset darling
to save our love before it dies

Chorus:
We'll try and make it this time
We'll take back what is our right
We'll find our way home this time

I've never seen you look so lovely
I've missed that look in your eyes
'Cos it's a ghost train that we're on baby
Is no one else willing to fight?

Look out the window and tell me honey,
just what is passing by outside
Oh, this journey is for a lifetime
Nobody said this road was easy
so make a stand here by my side

Repeat Chorus

A song about saving a marriage/relationship. I wrote it after reading an article about divorce rates in Australia exceeding 40%!

The keyboard intro is my favourite part of this song. I modelled it after Michael McDonald's style in the Doobie Brothers. The chord structure is quite complex and I composed/played it all by ear. To this day, I don't really know what a lot of the chords are called.
