We are keen to see 40 Associate of Arts degree level graduates leave our training program every year. To do this we need to complete our building by the end of 2007. But if we can double ithe capacity by constructing another one (an exact duplicate of the first) by the end of 2008, we can see our dreams come to pass before 2010. These graduates can fill the gaps in our health care system and provide support for home-based care at a more professional level (doing both counseling and health care)..
Computer training for the poor
We are struggling with old equipment and space. We hope to install DSL in the training facility we are building. Right now we are on dailup but if we get 10 computer users among our staff and sutdents, we can switch to DSL at the cost of $10 per person. Pray for our staff composition to be more computer literate too.
My goal is that apart from just teaching typing, computer and internet literacy, we will help folks prepare and qualify for Comptia A+ exams. If we succeed in offering adult literacy classes, we will empower some very needy members of our local community.
I believe that micro-financing projects are a flop without basic educational empowerment.
This year we have had our second and third international volunteers (a Rwandan and an Australian). As a mission one of our values is being international. We have put out the invitation to the world for godly volunteers to join our staff from every all over theworld.
Communication is a major challenge in all of Africa. We would love to have a presence in the International YWAMer and place ads in different media. The cost of doing so has been prohibitive for us so we have left that side of things to God who called us to the ministry we are doing here in Livingstone. The times are changing and it is becoming easier to own a functional amateur website. So, if you have read this far, I would say what I have been saying to others already. If you know of someone who has a heart for Livingstone, Zambia, let them know that we welcome Christian volunteers willing to serve pro Bono and pro Deo. They may have to rough it a bit because all missionary work is sacrificial by nature.
WHO DO WE NEED?
We still need an office manager, School Staff for IBC, DTS, SBS, ABCS, project manager, Internet literacy teacher, etc. As we add housng we will add staff. We need mission representatives who can interface with students and staff from their own countries. It is more meaningful for an Australian to explain Livingstone, Zambia, to another Australian!
