Analysis: Ernie made a heck of a comback from knee surgery. He finished in almost every position from 3rd to 10th during the year, but had no wins or 2nd place finishes. He played 18 events in 2006, earned less per event, but more events, more total money. Made the cut in all 4 majors, and his 3rd place finish was at the British Open. so where were his troubles? The basics. FIR & GIR...close to 150th on tour in both. And yet he is #1 on tour for consecutive cuts (42). Putting is his strongest ally, ranking at 26th on tour. Moving up in ranking, and getting more top 10s is definite improvement, but not getting a win for two years is disappointing.
Analysis: Bubba and Slim Shavy were arguing Scott's preseason ranking in the top ten before this season started. Hard to argue the pre-season rankings after these kinds of stats for Adam Scott. Made the cut in all 4 majors, was flirting with getting a win all season, but finally pulled the trigger in the final tournament. Played in 19 events, missed two cuts, but finished in the top 25 14 of 19. Only one bad stat in his corner, and you could recognize it in every event, even the tour Championship he won. Putting. His left wrist tends to break on putts, and cause a pulled putt more often than not. Butch Harmon has got to revamp that over the break. Top 20 in total driving, GIR, scoring, eagles made, birdies made, driving distance...on and on. Greeat year for Adam.
The Ryder Cup Pick Bonanza:
Basic Idea: Slim Shavy and Bubba pick five players for the year. Each week those players are in match play against each other. If one player on your team does not play, withdraws, or misses the cut, you are short a man for that week. Get one point each time a player on your team beats the other. The person with the most points each week gets a point added to his yearly total. How you come up with teams is too long to explain.
