The Kickovers...hurray!

"The Kickovers are a walk on the beach at sunset. And I think the music is good too." The coolest quote from NATE, answering my question "How would you describe The Kickovers and your music?"

"Nate is feeding my hunger to rock right now..." JOE found an awesome way to occupy himself after tiring of the Bosstones being off the road for quite a little while! Needless to say he's back on the road with the 'Tones again...ever dedicated to the cause!

"We used to jam when we were younger. It's probably me just bugging Nate all the time 'we should make a real band out of it' and we did." MIKEY talks about how The Kickovers really got together! Was it destiny? Could it be fate? Whatever!

"Jamie is pretty bad at driving directions. Sometimes we end up in Pennsylvania when we're supposed to be in Jersey. Johnny is ATTACHED to his cell phone. Who knows what they'd say about me?" NATE gossiping about the others...and I'm afraid I do agree with him on BOTH points, regarding Jamie and Johnny! Sorry guys!

"I try not to be to reactionary towards important world issues, one being our amazing, beautiful Osaka." MIKEY and his feelings on the reaction towards Osaka's release.

"Nate is a total genius!" JOHNNY stating the patently obvious...

"Is "pies" a metaphor for what I think ? I have a hard time concentrating in those "situations". By the way, Johnny is afraid of pie. I on the other hand, am not." MIKEY answering my "fingers in pies" question!!! Pies as a metaphor? It's our little secret!

"This is going to sound stupid, but I'm going to say it anyway. I think it's more about the roll (as opposed to the rock) coming back. It's more that organic sloppy thing that's coming back...everyone neglects the roll. What's up with that?" NATE thinks radio listeners are tired of music without substance and are looking for something a little more meaningful...more personal...that man is definitely correct...as always! Damn genius!!! He knows I'm joking!

"I truly hate that people say "Johnny Rioux of Mike Ness", I played for him so briefly and his music was his music not mine, that I don't want it on my creative resume!" JOHNNY sets the record straight about his illustrious musical past...he isn't "Johnny Rioux of Mike Ness"!

"I want to write big songs...maybe soon...beach boy big!" NATE talks about the temptation of slipping into other writing styles!

"Support is an important part of our existence on this planet. Remember that. I saw it on nova, and I love love love female aduration. I love you, girls. Thank you." MIKEY appreciates the support of fans...especially the female fans!!!

"The Kickovers are high energy rock and roll, just how I like it." JAMIE describes The Kickovers and their music...and just how much he likes it...hey, us too!

"It sounds silly but it is really sad that so many people define themselves by what they are not and by what they hate..." NATE and I discussed how theres too much hate, not enough people feeling "the love" and how someone needs to make the world a better place...this was one of his answers!

"I never wear underwear, and I love to dance." MIKEY telling me something interesting about himself. It's supposed to be something that'd surprise everyone...were you surprised?

"They are all smaller than me." NATE's interesting fact about the rest of The Kickovers.

"We all play different instruments and it seems to be working." JAMIE on what everyone brings to The Kickovers. Okay, so he's stating the obvious but it's so damn true!

"I love your site! Amazing! Crazy, Super!!!! I love it!!!! " NATE and his views on this humble little webpage of mine...he loves my site...awwwww, thanks man!

"She's the coolest, I teach her to skateboard, she calls me the raddy daddy!" JOHNNY talks fondly about his eldest daughter, Marilyn. The cutest quote ever...I was honoured to be told that.

"I used to take photos of my home with me on tour to remember...thats sad!" NATE remembers his days on tour with the Bosstones after I asked him "Did you even remember where you lived or what your house looked like?"

"All it takes is one person. You could have played a shitty gig where your guitar strings broke and the PA went out and the fire alarm went off, but if one person says, 'I bought your record and my friends and I listen to it all the time,' that's a great gig." JAMIE talks of the small victories as well as the larger triumphs in music.

"Its actually fun to just be playing in the studio without some major-label idiot standing over your shoulder" MIKEY on recording with his friends without an overbearing label presence!

"Johnny gets freaked out if you use your hands while talking. Nate will write songs about anything and everything at the drop of a hat. On stage and off. It's hilarious. Mikey's an excellent frog catcher. When in his hotel room, it's a good idea to thoroughly check the ice bucket and bathtub before each use. He practices catch and release though, so it's totally cool." JAMIE shares some funny facts about the others...thanks, that is really appreciated, ha-ha!

"Mushroom walks into a bar, bartender says "I'm sorry we don't serve mushrooms" mushroom says "I'm not a mushroom, I'm a fun-gi"...!" JOHNNY tells a joke you've probably heard before!

"I don't think in terms of rock. The Kickovers are all about the roll." NATE tells it like it is!

"Our music speaks for itself; pure genius. And it smells a bit like a 12yr. old's bicycle seat." MIKEY describing The Kickovers and their music...in a way only Mikey can!

"Everyone in The Kickovers brings a different element and I'm no exception." JOHNNY summing up how cool it must be to be in The Kickovers! I'm imagining it'd be pretty damn cool!

"Everytime I meet a KO's fan they say how much they love you...you are a superstar!" NATE speaks highly of my growing infamy...now just how weird is that?

"Regarding truths, the artist has a weaker morality than the thinker. He definitely does not want to be deprived of the splendid and profound interpretations of life, and he resists sober, simple methods and results. Thank you." MIKEY reveals his feelings about the preconceptions others have about him...either that or he's taking the piss...which is cool! You decide!

"My plants are living. I had a cactus that died when I was in the Bosstones." NATE deals with the important things in life...could we have two minutes silence for that poor cactus please?

"Being a rock star and all those other things just come and go. I think we'll just make great records and hope that people love them and not worry about the sycophantic element of the world." MIKEY concentrating on making music and not worrying about being a rock star!

"I love Superdrag. Superdrag. Superdrag." NATE...he, um...loves Superdrag!

"I was in Europe with my old band and I told the singer, we had played for probably 30-45 minutes, I told the singer we should stop because I had to take a piss cause I'd been drinking all day. It went over like a fart in church." JOHNNY and the thing he'll never do again onstage!

"Some people say that the songs you write are like your kids but that is bullshit. Songs are like a house you built that you want to renovate." NATE discussing his outlook on the songs he writes.

"Sesame Street is the only show that I didnt do that I really wish I could have been able to be a part of." MIKEY shows his disappointment in not being on everyone's favourite street!

"I have always tried to follow my bliss as they say. It is a good way to live I think because you don't end up working ever even if you are getting paid to do what you are doing. I can see doing something else besides trying to play rock star but I will always do music. It isn't really a choice. If I don't do it I get bummed." NATE, following his bliss!

"I am shy and have a low self esteem so it's pretty cool to read nice things about you." JOHNNY admits (shyly) how it really feels to be adored by so many online!

"I'm glad you dig it!" NATE, happy to hear that I love The Kickovers!

"I can't actually feel it. It's weird science." MIKEY discusses his feelings for the internet!

"A lot of people hear it as pop punk which I think is a limited view, there is a lot of other stuff in there." NATE talks about writing for The Kickovers and how his writing is perceived.

"I have always loved music but with my A.D.D. I was destined for 3 chord guitar rock!" JOHNNY explains how he's found his perfect musical niche!

"Sometimes I just like the way words look, regardless of what they mean. Sometimes I use words to make a point, sometimes I use them for confusion and sometimes just because they look nice. That's an influence from some of my favorite songwriters, who use words because of the way they sound. I like things that are open for interpretation. You let people's minds do the work for them. I can't stand obvious things." MIKEY explaining the use of certain words in his artwork.

"I'd like to ask Keith Richards how he's stayed alive, or if he is in fact alive..." JOHNNY on who he'd most like to meet...dead or alive! Keith Richards is still alive...right?

"Outside of the KO's, I've been nursing some non music related injuries to my back. I had some surgery in December. Don't tell the guys, but it is really a master plan to avoid carrying my heavy gear to shows!" JON, he would've gotten away with it too had his injuries been music related!!!

"I took mushrooms on stage once and was pelted with hot dogs. I will never do that again." NATE explains what he'll never do on stage again!

"When you're having fun on stage it makes for a much better show. That's what's happening with The Kickovers and it's great." JAMIE responds to reaction they've received on tour.

"To say I was stoked to even be asked is an understatement. At first I figured that I'd maybe just be a fill in, but told myself to just go and play the songs as best I could and we'll see where it goes. And here we are and I couldn't be happier." JON explains just how it felt for him to be approached to be a part of The Kickovers.

"Late at night when I'm driving I listen to Delilah...it is a radio show that plays love songs and dedications. Very sappy, it makes me smile." JOHNNY shares a little something about himself that just might surprise everyone else!!! Well, it might?

"Flashback to high school. Me, a long haired rocker type who was in chorus. Now one of the things I learned at an early age was that all the hot girls in school were in chorus. Another way to get extra time to hang out with them was signing up for the musical. I got the lead in "Oklahoma!", a character named Curly. Make a long story short, all hopes of having a little off stage romance were dashed when the director told me I had to get a perm for the weekend of the show. I looked like a scared mushroom!" JON explaining his most embarrassing moment!

"I play guitar, try to snowboard in the winter, watch the discovery channel." JAMIE discusses how he likes to spend the little spare time he manages to get.

"Anytime you do something new, it's so fresh, and scary. I really like where the sound is going." NATE, excited by where The Kickovers are going!

"A brief list of people I would like to punch square in the nose; Michael Stipe, Justin Timberlake, the "Dude you're gettin a Dell" guy!" JON and his...um...brief list of people he'd like to punch square in the mouth! How many of those would you agree with?

"I wrote 'Nicola, YOU ROCK!' because you do!" JAMIE telling me about the little note he left on my copy of Osaka! Bless him...

"Everyone in the band plays for the love of the music." JOHNNY sums up his feelings for the band and the music...something we're all very glad to hear!

"It's great when you have the time to check things out or go shopping or pick a fight with strangers." JAMIE and what he enjoys getting upto on tour!!!

"Since when does anyone pull out change from an ATM? I guess it makes more sense if you've been drinking turpentine for a few years." JON after being asked for change at an ATM.
