2. Date and place of birth; 3/11/77, Madison, Wisconsin.
3. Nicknames; Jamie, J.
4. To get to know you a little better just give us an introduction to your good self...please; Hello, I'm Jamie.
Now for the real questions...
5. The Kickovers have such a loyal and supportive fanbase already. How cool do you think it is to have such loyalty at this early stage from such dedicated fans? It's great to have such cool fans at any stage. We're very lucky to have people like that, and we never take it for granted. For me, having a connection with so many cool people rocks.
6. How would you describe The Kickovers and their music? The Kickovers are high energy rock and roll, just how I like it.
7. Just how cool is it to be in this band and play with such awesome musicians? It blows my mind.
8. How have you reacted to the response you receive on tour? Personally I'm loving it. I think it's a big achievement for new bands to win over audiences right out of the gates. Things really started clicking early on. When you're having fun on stage it makes for a much better show. That's what's happening with The Kickovers and it's great.
9. What qualities does each individual bring to The Kickovers? We all play different instruments and it seems to be working.
10. What is most rewarding; touring or recording? I enjoy doing both just the same but I like the social aspect of touring and meeting people from different cities and seeing new places. It's great when you have the time to check things out or go shopping or pick a fight with strangers.
11. Which is best; concentrating on one project or having your fingers in a few pies? I think it's great to play with other musicians. You learn so much about yourself and it keeps you on your toes. Recently I've been lucky to be able to play shows with The Kickovers and The Pills. I also just recorded some tracks for a good friend of mine, Bleu. He has a tune on the spiderman soundtrack now and will be releasing a record on Columbia. At the same time, it's important not to bite off more than you can chew.
12. How do you like the spend the little spare time you get? Any hobbies? I play guitar, try to snowboard in the winter, watch the discovery channel.
13. What makes you angry? Losing soccer balls and aerobies. I've had bad luck with that lately.
14. ...and what brings you inner-peace? Cheese, Cows, Milk.
15. Tell me something about yourself that might surprise everyone else? I once raised a baby blue jay that fell from the nest...
16. Who would you say are your greatest musical influences? Both drummers in Sloan (Andrew and Chris) I saw them a few years ago and was totally floored by there drumming. Stewart Copeland from The Police is huge. Karen Carpenter. Dr. Dre. Tommy Lee. Alex Van Halen.
17. Who are your favourite bands? The Clash, Supergrass, Stones, The Figgs, Sloan, The Pixies, Abba (thanks to local H).
18. Not all influences have to be musical obviously, so what else inspires you? The Great Outdoors.
19. Where you musical as a child and do you play any other instruments? Yes, I was 9 when I got my first drum set and would take frequent breaks from lighting fireworks and killing ants, to play them.
20. What was the last CD you bought? The Breeders, title tk.
21. What are your feelings about the internet? It's awesome, I use it every day.
22. What was the first record you bought and the first band you saw live? Digital Underground, Sex Packets, But the first real band I saw live was AC/DC with Love/Hate on the Money talks tour. They dropped all this money with Angus' face on it, it was a sensory overload. My ears still ring today.
23. Which band would you love to tour with and why? AC/DC. In Australia.
24. Tell me something funny about the others? Johnny gets freaked out if you use your hands while talking. Nate will write songs about anything and everything at the drop of a hat. On stage and off. It's hilarious. Mikey's an excellent frog catcher. When in his hotel room, it's a good idea to thoroughly check the ice bucket and bathtub before each use. He practices catch and release though, so it's totally cool.
25. Who'd play you in "The Kickovers - The Movie"? Mark Hamil.
26. If you could meet anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why? Betty Page...
27. What's your favourite joke? I'm in between favourite jokes right now.
28. Do you have any hidden talents? If so what are they? I try to keep everything in the open.
29. What is the most embarrassing thing thats ever happened to you? Well, I think I've blocked out most of the embarrassing things I've done. However when we played with the Cranberries in Florida, I started the set with my jump suit wide open. That was a good one.
30. What do you hope the future holds for The Kickovers? Just more of the same really. I'm just really happy with the way things are developing. Everything's getting better and better. I'm having a blast.
