The Kickovers are credited on this inaugural (and insanely illustrious) Fenway Recordings release under their former name of The Brakes. "Volume 1 of this ongoing compilation series includes initial Fenway signing The Kickovers (The Brakes - featuring ex-Mighty Mighty Bosstones guitarist Nate Albert and ex-Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh) performing "Fake In Love", Northern Ireland's Ash, young sensation Ben Kweller, Philadelphia drum&bass duo GFS, and Ocio from Argentina (including Latin pop legend Gustavo Cerati). Rock based but diverse with the electronic sounds of L.A.'s Los Tormentos, GFS and the hip-hop of Northern Virginia's H.E.A.D." It's a really cool CD, showcasing many up and coming talents of the future...you should really own this CD...am I biased? Um, YES!

The amazingly infectious "Fake In Love" was our very first taste of The Kickovers and an awesome introduction, it finally gets it's eagerly awaited release on vinyl. The B-side is the previously unreleased song "Don't Look Down". "Fake In Love" appears on the above mentioned CDs; "In Our Lifetime: Volume 1" and "Osaka" both available from Fenway Recordings. Originally this was to be a double A-side with "Heart Attack" to be released in March 2002...but The Kickovers were known as The Brakes back then too so I guess you know the rest of this story by now don't you? Anyways, it's truly awesome...enough said!
Revenge Of Boston tour 7".
The Kickovers team up with tour buddies and fellow Bostonians The Damn Personals for this 7" release. The Revenge Of Boston tour coincided with the release of this split 7" and gave The Kickovers the chance to tour with another awesome Beantown based band. Featuring previously unreleased and exclusive tracks from both bands; the amazing live favourite "Mascara Queen" from The KO's and "Better Living" from The DP's. This CD, The Revenge Of Boston, continues the acclaimed compilation series from Fenway Recordings. A reflection of the currently intense musical environment in Boston, this compilation includes many familiar names. They include Cave In, Mission of Burma, Dropkick Murphys with Dicky Barrett, Piebald, Papas Fritas, The Sheila Divine, Chad Stokes Urmston from Dispatch, and the first ever recorded output from the notorious Kaiju Big Battel. All performances are previously unreleased in North America. The compilation contains two different WBCN Rumble winners including 2002 champions The Gentlemen. The 21 track disc includes three live recordings including Mission of Burma from the Paradise in January 2002 and Dropkick Murphys with Dicky Barrett from the notorious St. Patrick's Day Weekend 2002 shows at the Avalon Ballroom. Destined to document a place and a time, The Revenge Of Boston cuts across many styles.
