Finnish architect Matti Juuronen designed the Futuro House in 1968, imagining a new era, a space-age where everybody would have more leisure time to spend on holidays away from home. The plan was to mass-produce this 8-person plastic mobile home, but the 1973 oil crisis spoiled the plan. New Zealand company Futuro Entreprises only built 20 units before dumping the molds. Having discovered one of the few remaining Futuro in Thames, Larsson and Jonas decided to fly back to Auckland in it.
