Map & Compass

Map and compass is important for quite a lot of cadet subjects, namely field craft and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. During cadet training, you will learn a lot about map and compass which will prove extremely useful when you are stranded in the middle of no-where with only a map and a compass!

Map and compass can be fun if you take part in orienteering. Orienteering is following bearings between checkpoints on a map. Orienteering is a very popular sport, both inside and outside cadets, because of the challenge it presents to those taking part. Time spent on map and compass work is seldom wasted as it is a very important suject. Make sure to take heed in these lessons as some points are quite hard to understand.
