Field Craft

Field craft is always a very popular subject amongst cadets. Patrols and exercises are always something to look forward to. There is always plenty of patrolling and normally a 2 or 3 day exercise. Field craft skills are tought throughout the cadet syllabus and it is very important to learn them carefully.
Here are some of the of the components of fieldcraft:
Judging distance
Camoflauge and concealment
Movement
Listening and observing at night
Field signals
Navigation
Patrolling
Some detachments that are
based in country areas get a lot more practice at field craft
than those that meet in town areas. Even so, there is always
plenty of field craft on company training weekends and on annual
camp. There is also patrolling competitions such as the Calcutta
Cup for people in Northern Ireland.
