  Jon: Quarryman Attack
  By Gay Dude

Lyla sat on the roof of the mansion, bored to death with the way life was right now.  No boyfriend, no life outside of patroling, computers, the only thing that lifted her spirits was Jon, Ben, and Kevin.  Thinking about Kevin, she was wondering where he was.  Then she heard a noise behind her, the familiar noise of anothe Gargoyle landing.  She turned around and said out loud, "Speaking of Kev...how's it going?"

Kevin was the biggest Gargoyle in the Clan.  He was about 6' 5", and 330 pounds of muscle.  Lyla always had a major crush on Kevin, like almost every other male in the Clan except for the Elders of course.  She ran up to Kevin and gave him a hug.  Kevin hugged Lyla with both of his arms and wings.  "Hey babe, looking for me?"

She gave him a light punch in the arm, "Don't call me babe you perv."

"Then don't call me perv, babe," he teased.

They went inside of the house to look for Harvey, maybe he'd have something interesting to talk about.  Lyla didn't want to try and start a conversation with Kevin, a conversation lead to topics, topics lead to sexual topics, sexual topics lead to sex, sex lead to falling asleep, then waking up an hour later and Kevin gone.  Oh this didn't happen every time, just whenever Lyla tried to start a conversation.  Kevin would try and lead it to sex, he would never lead one of his own topics to sex.

Not to say that Lyla didn't want to be with Kevin, she liked him quite a bit, she just didn't know how to approach him about becoming life-mates.  It was a very big decision, and she didn't want to scare him away.  Hell, she scared the last Gargoyle away with talk of being Life-Mates.  She also wouldn't consider Kevin her boyfriend yet, they haven't done any of the common boyfriend\girlfriend things yet, like go out for dinner (If possible) and cuddle. She started to stroke his long brown hair.  She especially loved his golden-colored eyes.

When they found Harvey, he was looking through a book.  He peered up from his reading and greeted the young couple.  "Hello Kevin and Lyla, how are you?"

"Fine Harvey," replied Lyla.

"We were wondering if you could entertain us with some anecdotes," started Kevin.

Harvey closed his book and put it on the coffee table beside him.  "Well, I could tell you about young love..."

They listened intently, "A long time ago, a man fell in love with a Gargoyle.  A beautiful Gargoyle, with beautiful amber eyes and long blonde hair.  This exquisite gargess had beautiful ebony skin, and her wings were like an Angel's."

"What was her name?" asked Lyla.

"Yea," seconded Kevin, "She sounds like a real babe!"

Lyla elbowed him in the ribs really hard.  He winced in pain, then giggled a little.  Lyla knew this was Harvey's story, from long ago.  Only her and Jon knew this.  "Anyway, to continue," he continued, "she was his Angel, his Angel of Troy as he'd call her.  Her name was Helen.  This was why he reffered to her as his Angel of Troy.  He thought that if she really tried, she could at least launch two-thousand ships, and at most ten-thousand."

He remembered Helen to the detail, she was beautiful, something out of a dream.  "Helen also loved her Human man, yes he was human.  He had matching ebony skin, to match hers.  His grey eyes were what stood out the most to her, next to his keen and intellectual mind."

Lyla snickered at this, Harvey was giving himself way too much credit, but then again she saw a younger picture of him and he sure was cute back then.  Harvey continued, "Well, these two were in love for years, until one day when a spell would seperate them.  The spell of Stone Sleep."

When he said that, it took all of his strength to fight back the tears.  It had been so long ago when his Helen has been put into stone sleep by a jealous sorceress.  And three years since the statue of his beloved had gone missing.  Lyla was fighting back tears too, she always cried when she heard this story.  Kevin just sat there listening, wondering why Harvey was trying to fight back tears.  Lyla, seeing this decided that it was time for them to go, she wasn't sure if the Clan was ready for the real reason why Harvey wasn't scared of Gargoyles, and why he had so easily accepted them in.

"Sorry to cut it short, Harvey, but we have to go." she said, as she was giving Kevin the look (Of Wanting to go somewhere).

At first, Kevin didn't recognize the look, he never really paid much attention to the look throughout his whole life.  Then, he recognized it and got up as fast as he could, before she gave him the other look (Every man should know this, the one that women give when they're mad at you, lol!  I only know this because I get the look from my mom!).  "Thanks for the story Harvey, if you want I can draw a drawing for you."

Harvey thanked him, and said he'd like a picture of Helen.  He immediately gave Kevin Helen's stats.  When Kevin and Lyla were on their way out, they heard a crash...

Ben's place

Jon lay in bed with Ben, the covers, at least, covering up Ben.  He had his arm around Ben's shoulders.  He felt especially good tonight, holding his boyfriend in his arms right after what they just did.  (Hey, I can't add a sex scene for each story I write!)  Ben was sleeping lightly, so Jon had some time to think to himself.  He wondered why all of this had happened.  Oh, he was grateful, more than grateful.  But what were the odds?  He had seen alot of bad-online stories about the Yahoo! Personals.  (Don't beleive me?  Ask anyone who has posted more than one Yahoo! Ad and you'll see what I mean) There were alot of BAD stories.  So how come his first try went so well?

Why did Greggor hate him?  He couldn't understand, and he never would ask Greggor why.  Could it lead back to their childhood somewhere along the line?  Why did Greggor hate at all?  Something had to have happened in his childhood, something that made Greggor hate Jon.  For that matter, Jon wondered why the hell he didn't hate Greggor back.  It would be so much easier, but he couldn't even bring himself to kill Greggor because he knew that the Gargoyle Race needs to be carried on.  But couldn't the other Gargoyles in the Clan actually carry on?  He knew that there were enough males and females, and they could even have more than one generation if they wanted too.  Gargoyle eggs only took ten years to hatch, as long as they could find a way to keep the eggs safe, once they had them, they could have another mating season when the eggs hatch.

For that matter, he never really thought about it enough, but now he was wondering why he was kicked out.  He always just accepted his exile, but the Clan was in no real danger.  Maybe the Elders were more strict than he thought.  Either way, he really didn't care as much as anyone else would, he was happy because he had Ben.  Who wouldn't risk exile to be with their love?

Who wouldn't risk death for that matter?  He thought about it for a minute or two, he would be willing to die for Ben, that much was certain.  But would he be willing to do everything for Ben?  He once heard Ben say that he would do anything for him, but he himself had never told Ben as much.

Jon pulled his arm out from under Ben very caredfully.  He pulled the covers up slowly and walked to the window to look outside.  The night was very beautiful, a full moon in the sky, stars shining.  He considered going gliding nude for once, but decided not too.  It wouldn't do to accidentally scare some humans if he accidentally glided over some.  Anyway, he wanted to be where he was at when Ben finally decided to wake up.  Ben was muttering in his sleep, he always did that.  One of the many quirks that Jon loved.  He looked over at his lover again, who looked awfully beautiful in his sleep.  Jon looked out the window, and saw a familiar figure land on the lawn.  It was Lyla, he could tell by her shape, it was a little dark to see her clearly though.  She started to climb the side of the house, as if she were in a hurry to get to him.  When lyla finally reached the window, Jon now knew why she was in a hurry.  He couldn't breathe for a minute, Lyla had a deep gash on part of her neck.  Not a big enough wound for her to bleed to death, but enough to make it look very painful.  He helped her into the room where she collapsed on the floor.

"Lyla, what happened?" Jon whispered.

He could only hear bits and peices in whispers, attack, some of the clan dead, others still fighting and wounded, quarryman attack.  That last part definitely caught his attention, he told her to stay there, he'd go assist as fast as he could.  He went to the closet in the room and opened it up.  He took out his loincloth, and his short sword.  Ben then chose that time to wake up.  "Jon, what's going on?"

Jon really didn't want to answer him, he knew Ben would worry.  "The Quarrymen have attacked the Clan, I need to go and help them, they need it."

Ben now looked worried, but he wasn't going to argue with Jon.  Jon went over to Lyla and asked her how the Clan was taken so easily.  "It was a surprise, no one spotted them at all.  They also outnumbered us..."

That's when Lyla started to cry, "They killed off the elders first!"

Jon could barely keep his anger in it's place, his fists clenched, the veins showing in his hands.  Ben had never seen Jon mad before, and he knew that once Jon got to the window and glided off, he was just going to take off and attack the Quarrymen head on, without a plan.  He grabbed Jon's arm, "Jon, I know how you must feel right now, but you can't just go and attack those bastards head-on!  You need to plan it out first."

Lyla agreed, she knew that the quarrymen had what's left of the Clan cornered somewhere in the mansion.  Jon would get there in time to help save them if this was planned right, she voiced her opinion as well, "Ben's right, it wouldn't do just to attack them head-on.  You need to catch them by surprise."

Jon's fists clenched tighter, his pride wanted him to go and attack head-on, but common sense won out and he calmed down.  "What can I do?"

"Well," Lyla began, "Remember those smoke bombs that we bought last year for the Fourth of July?"

"Yea, I think I know what you're getting at.  I just hope they're still where I had them hidden..."

"Jon!" exclaimed Ben, before Jon could glide off.

Jon looked at Ben's eyes, Ben looked scared and worried.  "I'll be right back Ben, I promise."

"I love you," Ben said.

"I love you too."

Jon glided off into the night.  He felt the sting of tears at his eyes, everything was practically peaceful, everyone was practically happy, then the Quarrymen had to attack his clan.  He hoped there was someone left to save when he got there.  He was very close to the mansion, he made sure to avoid the area that Lyla had told him about.  He didn't spot any Quarrymen, yet.  He glided down and landed somewhere near the back of the house.  He needed to get inside the shed, but he had to do it with as little noise as possible.  Surprise, that which has worked for the Quarrymen, had to work for him too.  He was able to snap the chains on the shed door, without much noise.  He heard the sounds of bashing inside of the mansion, and a few screams, he had to hurry up.  When he was inside of the shed, he went over to a far corner, and started digging.  He didn't know why he had buried the smoke bombs, but he just felt like burying them at the time.  When he finally got the box out, he opened it.  There were still about 8 smoke bombs left, more than enough to blanket the room in smoke.  He grabbed the lighter in the box and stuffed it in his belt-pocket.

Jon creeped into the house as quietly as he could, he noticed some quarrymen looking around, about three of them.  He hid behind a corner as they talked to each other, "We need to find that freak, we can't let her escape at all, the monster."

"Personally, I think we should have a little fun with her before we kill the Gargie, that's all she's useful for," said one of the other quarrymen, as he made the jerk-off hand signal.  Jon made a mental note to cut off that hand after he slashed the guy's neck open.  He put the box down on the floor and withdrew his short sword slowly.  As one of the men passed by slowly, he grabbed him, making sure to cover his mouth.  He slashed the guy's neck open, and the Quarryman quickly died.  He felt a little sick, having to kill in cold blood, but they could easily alert the others if he didn't.  Soon the other one came by, and he repeated.  Then when the third one came by, he almost screamed, but not in enough time.  Jon also cut off his hand, as he had promised himself.  Jon picked up the box of smoke bombs and slowly walked to the library, that's where the rest would be at.

When he looked around the corner, he saw them, or at least what was left of them.  Of his Clan, the only one left was Kevin.  Of the Quarrymen, there were ten.  He knew that he could take five, and so could Kevin, especially with the help of the smoke bombs.  Jon lit them all, unfortunately, they made a fizzing noise as they were being lit.  "What's that noise?" asked one of the Quarrymen.  Jon ran inside, making sure to throw the smoke bombs and the box right at the Quarrymen.  The men started coughing as the smoke filled the area where they were at.  Jon and Kevin didn't waste anytime at all.  Jon killed two of the Quarrymen right away, Kevin broke the necks of two more.  One of the Quarrymen surprised Jon and hit him with his hammer.  "Damnit!  The electricity isn't working!"

That was the last thing he said as Kevin slashed across his face, tearing half of it off.  Jon got up and stabbed his sword at the next Quarryman, getting him in-between the ribcage.  He kicked the body off of his sword and he turned to face the last four Quarrymen with Kevin at his side.  Jon unsheathed a knife and gave it to Kevin, "I know it's not a Spear, but it'll have to do for now."

"Just fine my friend," Kevin gasped, he looked awful.  Jon wasn't looking so good himself, that hammer blow had bruised him badly.  One of the Quarrymen, who looked like he/she had soiled him/herself, ran away right away, only to trip over the dead body of one of the Quarrymen and break his/her neck on the floor.  The last three Quarrymen attacked, two against Kevin, one against Jon.  The smoke had cleared up, and they could now see Jon and Kevin.  Jon sheathed his sword and grabbed the quarryman that attacked him.  With a mighty heave, he threw the person at the other two Quarrymen attacking Kevin.  They all fell down in a heap, as Jon and Kevin stood side by side.  They all got up and started to attack again.  Kevin punched one of the Quarrymen, and that one fell down on the floor, knocked out.  He then threw the dagger Jon gave him at another, hitting him in the eye.  The Quarryman hunched over on the floor, grasping at the dagger now imbedded in his eye.  Jon kicked the last quarryman and then he motioned for Kevin to follow him.  They both made a hasty retreat out of the house.  "Kevin, there isn't anymore, is there?"

"Nope, just the three that we let survive."

They both climbed the side of the mansion and glided off.  They had to help each other, with their injuries hindering them.  Kevin muttered something about Greggor, Jon asked him again what he meant.  "One of the Quarrymen screamed that Greggor was right, I think he called them somehow and told them about us," he mutttered, "I didn't think Greggor would go any lower."

Jon had to keep his emotions in check, most of his Clan was dead, and now all that were left was He, Kevin, and Lyla.  "Where was Harvey?"

Kevin didn't answer that question to the fullest, "They killed him, I don't want to tell you what they did to him..."

Jon didn't want to hear at all, he knew that the Quarrymen were sadictic psychos.  They did worse stuff to anyone who sided with the Gargoyles than what they did to any Gargoyle.  They finally got to Ben's house, Ben opened the back door and let them in.  He had been crying, probably worried sick about Jon.  Jon knew he couldn't cry tonight, he needed to comfort Ben as best he could.  Jon let Kevin lean against him when they walked in, Kevin's left eye was practically swollen closed from a hammer blow, and he had burns on most of his body.  Then, when Jon sat him down, Kevin jumped up, "Where's Lyla!?  She better not be dead!!"

"I'm here," Lyla said, a little weakly.  She limped to the couch and sat down next to Kevin.  He drew her into a hug and held on, crying in her hair a little.  "I'm so sorry, I couldn't protect them all, the Quarrymen killed everyone else!"

She fought her tears, "It wasn't your fault, it wasn't anyone's."

Lyla got Kevin to let go of her slowly, and she grabbed some bandaging beside the couch.  She started to bandage him up, she knew that Ben would be too busy fussing over Jon's injuries.  Ben was doing exactly what she had predicted, he was fussing over Jon.  "Those nazi bastards!  I hope they all burn in hell for this."

Jon was accepting Ben's fussing over his bruises with as much dignity as he could muster.  He winced as Ben applied some balm on his bruises, and a gash on his chest.  "That's going to leave a scar tommorrow..."

Ben bandaged up the small four-inch gash, although it really didn't need a bandage.  It would be dawn soon.  Jon thought about Lyla and Kevin.  His concern for them was how long it would take for them to adjust.  Jon was ready when he moved into Ben's house, but Lyla and Kevin probably never thought they'd leave their protecterate.  Jon mentally slapped himself, he should be grieving right now.  Tonight though, even with Ben's fussing, he knew that Ben was the only one right now who was calm enough to help everyone.  After Ben had bandaged Jon's wounds, he gave him a kiss and moved over to Kevin.  "You're not going to kiss me are you?"

No one laughed, but it did sort of help them all get their minds off of the Clan.  Jon dropped his sheathed short sword on the floor, and went over to Kevin to help Ben and Lyla.  "Nah, he's not into cross-dressers."

Lyla looked at Kevin with wide eyes.  She never knew that, neither did Ben, he looked just as surprised.  Jon sort of winced, he didn't mean to spill the beans for Kevin.  Kevin just looked at Lyla and she said it was ok.  She could care less anyway.  When the bandages were all out, the sun came up, and Ben fell asleep on the floor.

When they woke up, Ben was making dinner for them.  Jon, for a minute, forgot what had happened and was about to walk into the kitchen and hug Ben from behind.  But the memories from the night before came back, and he knew he'd remember that night everytime he woke up.  They all seated at the table, Ben hadn't cooked much, knowing that no one was really going to eat too much.  When they were done with Dinner, Ben cleared the table.  He then took out a candle and gave it to Lyla.  "I know I wasn't part of the Clan, but I thought we could light a candle in their memory."

Lyla teared up, she put the candle down on the table, and everyone sat around it.  Lyla grabbed a matchbook that was on the table, and lit the candle.  They all sat in silence, and remembered the Clan.
