Fun For All The Family

Slowly, they had regrouped at the gift shop. Thjorska stared at the corpse with utter disbelief, shaking his head. There, in Pitrak's hand, was the limp form of Mr. Mega-Shujo.
"When they tense their muscles, they can do this," said Pitrak, and pulled on the limp flesh. The mouth opened, and needle-sharp teeth sprang out. The eyes bugged, almost completely out of the skull. Thjorska shuddered.
"That looks more like the one I got. Less happy-happy, more psycho-psycho."
"Where the hell did these things come from?" Asked a burly Jotun holding a plasma cannon.
"I don't know, but it seems these aliens changed form to fit in with their environment, then killed the park staff."
"So?" Demanded one of the robots. "Either way, we're shaxxed."
"Stow it, Odan. These things could take on any form."
"Are they smart?"
Bjors shook his head. "Dimmer than a brown dwarf."
Thjorska pulled a souvenir map from a rack, swept a display table clear of merchandise and thumped it down on the flat surface.
"We're here," he said, stabbing a combat knife into the map. "I want us to stay in four groups. We can cover ground faster that way. Me, Ship, Odan, Khain and Lokan in group alpha. Bjors, Pitrak, Frey, Beldar and Hod in group beta. Vanid, Torg, Tiaman, Alexin and Tyr in gamma. The rest of you in delta." He loaded his gun and passed around maps.
"Let's kick some alien quig."

Thjorska and Ship took point as the group made their way through the "Happy-Fun-Fun Land" area of the park. Far, far ahead was the Mega-Shujo tower, right in the middle of the park and probably also the command centre. Also, Thjorska noted from the map, the basis of a firework show every Tuesday.
"Kerara? Kejara? Kaneri?" Ship muttered to herself, thinking up some more names. She obviously wanted one, unlike other ships. That strange virus must have made her more... alive, somehow.

"Attention, all amusement park patrons!" Boomed the artificial voice of the park. "The Mega-Shujo-Happy-Happy Land shut down now! Please go to main entrance! Thank you!"
The sky crackled with energy, and the sun began to sink quickly behind the horizon. A quiet darkness settled over the park, and Thjorska realised he couldn't see more than ten feet in front of him.
"Oh sod," he muttered. It had been three hours since they left the gift shop. They had travelled quite some distance, getting further and further from the entrance. And their Beserkers. And any hope of rescue.
"All groups, get to the main tower fast," he said into the comm, urging the group into a light run. "I think we've been set up."

Back in the empty gift shop, the Rivymon toys began to twitch and move. Slowly they crawled out of the door to join the seething, moving mass of creatures, slowly making their way along the road to the huge spire that dominated the skyline...
