Golden Bay- (7/19/2004) Golden Bay opened up recently, relative
to when I wrote this review. The Har Gao skins were flimsy. The Har
Cheung Fun was a little tough but tasty. The Char Sui Bao was pretty
tasty and fluffy. Duck feet were mighty tasty. As was the white radish
pancakes. Location is better for me because it is closer than other dim
sum places. The environment was friendly as was the wait staff. It can
hold a larger number of people than most Dim Sum places in Austin.
Marco Polo tastes a little better which is not as good as Dim Sum
places in Houston. Rating: 3.25 out of 4.

Shady Grove- (2/22/2005) Shady Grove on Barton Springs is pretty good. I went there with a friend who used to go there a lot. The Tortilla Fried Catfish with rice is really good. Pretty big portion for the catfish. The salad was tiny but the peanut and the thai salad dressings were very good. Outdoor scenery is pretty good on a nice day and it looks like they have heater fan light posts when it gets too cold. Rating: 3.9 out of 4.
Manny Hattan's- (2/28/2005)For a good meat filled sandwich, Manny Hattan's is the place to go. Although for $11 after tax/tip I still felt a bit hungry. But for $30 you can get a sandwich about 6-7 times the size of one. Pretty good deal on that, and if you finish one by yourself, the dessert is free. The food is good, but moderately expensive. Rating: 3.5 out of 4.
