| all tucked up in featherbeds grandma's quilts atop listen to a quiet rain pray it never stops giggle, whisper, giggle more laugh so hard you cry sandman is vacationing this cool summer's night tell each other ghost stories 'til you get the "CREEPS" parents downstairs yelling "YOU KIDS GET TO SLEEP!" sleep at last comes to your eyes dreams in la-la-land wake up to such yummy smells breakfast in the pan perking coffee, apples too flapjacks piled mile high jump right up, throw on some clothes see how fast you fly down it all... like one, two, three ZIP... you're out the door running to the sacred woods can't wait to explore hide-n-seek, then tag... "YOU"RE IT" you run until you drop even tho' it's dinnertime no one wants to stop standing at the kitchen sink soap and water time sometimes it's hard to be a kid right now... it seems just fine! |
