The Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course provides golfers with the first championship golf course in the Scottish Borders. Set in over 200 acres of beautiful surroundings, The Roxburghe course has been designed to follow the natural contours and features of the Roxburghe Estate with its mix of mature woodland, rolling parkland and twists and turns of the River Teviot to the west.

Location
The Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course is due south from Kelso, on the edge of Heiton village. Travelling from Edinburgh or the south, follow the A68 towards Jedburgh, and then take the A698 towards Kelso and into the village of Heiton.

Golf course
Commissioned to design the course by the Duke of Roxburghe, one of the world's foremost architects Dave Thomas has produced a layout of rare class. An 18-hole, par-71 layout stretching a formidable 7,111 yards, this creation has been achieved with considerable flair and skill. The mature woodlands define the fairways and dramatic water features offer an extra dimension where the Teviot runs through the course. Deep, challenging bunkers have been formed to protect generous rolling greens to complete a challenge which all golfers will relish. Admiration from Europe's leading golfer Colin Montgomerie confirms the course's quality: 'The greens are immaculate and the picturesque course is perfect to play for professionals and amateurs. I look forward to playing the Roxburghe whenever I am in the area and hopefully in the future in tournament golf, because the course would make a superb venue.' Sergio Garcia set a new course record of 66 in The 2000 Roxburghe Challenge, breaking Nick Faldo's 1997 record of 67.

Facilities
Some of the best fishing in Europe is on offer to guests on the estate, either on the private beats or on the well-stocked trout pond. Clay pigeon shooting, falconry, tennis and croquet are also all available. A health & beauty salon with a full complement of facilities and services can be found on the estate whenever a health kick or pampering session are needed. All bedrooms in the hotel have en-suite bathrooms and modern amenities.

Packages
The standard daily rate starts at £120 per room. The price includes early morning tea, complimentary newspaper, full Scottish breakfast and VAT. Guests are also entitled to free entry into nearby Floors Castle, free use of the tennis court, croquet lawn, bicycles and fishing. Golf breaks start from £103 per person per day (this is a midweek rate) and includes table d'hote dinner, accommodation with added extras and a round of golf on the Roxburghe Golf Course each day.
