Golf Courses
The Challenge at Manele is a much-celebrated creation of the Golden Bear, Jack Nicklaus. A par-72 layout and measuring 7,039 yards, the course seductively winds its way through the island's lava cliffs, high above the ocean below. Not an outing for the faint-hearted, this golfing challenge requires players to clear lava gorges off the tee at a number of holes. The Experience at Koele is a par-72 championship course measuring 7,014 yards, and has been designed by one of Australia's greatest and most charismatic golfers, Greg Norman, along with Ted Robinson. Starting 2,000 feet above sea level, its early holes lead golfers through an enchanting forested plateau while the remainder of the course has more of a links feels about it, with undulating fairways, frequent cross-winds from the neighbouring Pacific and even a couple of waterfalls for golfers' balls to avoid.
