Golf Courses
The 6,253-yard, par-71 Resort Course was originally designed by William Flynn in 1926 and has since been reconstructed by Gene Bates. One of the oldest golf courses in Florida, the layout reopened in 1998 after its $6.5 million facelift, and Bates has given the course an extra dimension by adding new water features and elevation changes. Water comes into play on most holes and the lakes have been increased from three to 12 acres, including one which now surrounds the 18th green. The newer, par-72, 6,585-yard Country Club Course has also reopened recently after a $1.2 million project which included a redesign of every green under the supervision of young architect Kipp Schulties, who previously worked for Bates. It was also seeded throughout with the same Bermuda grass planted on the Resort Course.

Facilities
The resort has the Jack Nicklaus/Jim Flick Golf School for guests who are keen to improve their game. The school offers residential programmes including Master Golf, Executive Golf and Golf for Women. If it's the short game which needs particular work, the Dave Pelz Short Game School is also on the resort, and the extensive golf facilities are completed by driving ranges and carefully kept practice areas. Away from the golf, Boca Raton offers 30 tennis courts, swimming pools, state-of-the-art fitness centre (covering 6,200 square feet), an extensive range of dining options and children's activities, and a half-mile stretch of private beach. A wide variety of water-sports are available at a 25-slip, full-service marina.

Packages
Golf enthusiasts wishing to experience both the Resort and Country Club Courses may wish to choose the value-added two-night golf package. The Boca Golf Package is available all year round and features deluxe accommodation, unlimited golf with shared cart on either course (advanced starting times are recommended and a cart is included for one round per day), a Nicklaus/Flick golf clinic, daily breakfast, driving range tokens, daily bag storage and cleaning, and complimentary use of the fitness centres. Package rates start at $1,214 in winter (from January 3 to April 30), $920 in the spring and fall (from May 1-27 and from October 1 to December 17) and $616 in the summer (from 28 May to 30 September). The rates - per room and based on double occupancy - do not include tax or service charges.
