The Asgard homeworld, Othala resides in the nearby galaxy of Ida.


They are one of the two prime races in our galaxy. The other prime race is the Goa�uld.
The Asgard and the Goa�uld are culture bearers. The Asgard impersonate Norse gods and took humans from earth millions of years ago to a safe world called Cimmeria. Cimmeria is a safe world protected by the Asgard from all Goa�uld interference, and are able to advance on their own.

The Asgard are ruled by the Asgard high council.

  -The council chamber is extremely large; it can cause multiple echoes from one word. Often four Asgard sit at the high council, but there are seven seats. Only a quorum is needed to make a minor decision.

  -Pendants and jewellery is worn by the more higher ranking asgard council members.

  -The Council Speaker, Thus far has always been Freyr and sits bathed in a purple light.

The Asgard have a treaty with the Goa�uld called the protected planets treaty. The worlds that belong to the protected planets treaty are protected by the Asgard and cannot be invaded by the Goa�uld, with out very a very swift wiping out of that system lord. But they are mainly bluffing the Goa�uld for they cannot be in our galaxy all the timer for there is a much worse enemy in their own galaxy called the Replicators. Unfortunately they are loosing the battle with the Replicators. Because of these wars they cannot send to much resources to our galaxy, as much as they would like to help.



Planets that are currently under Asgard protection:~

  -Cimmeria: The Asgard High Council decided that Cimmeria was to be a safe world, for the humans to be sentient and develop technology at their own pace.

  - Earth: Earth was included in the protected planets treaty because the threat to Earth from the system lords was increasing. The treaty does not protect Earth from Rogue Goa�uld invasion or SG teams travelling offworld and have been caught by a system lord.

    - Adara: There is no apparent life forms on this planet for the atmosphere is 80% carbon dioxide and has a surface temperature of 300�C. but the Asgard have protected this planet because it is the base of Heimdall�s vital research lab.

  - K�tau: The K�tau have a chamber where they can �contact� their God Freyr. Although they do not know of Freyr's true form. They worship him as the god of the sun and rain. This place was how Sg-1 first made contact with the Asgard High Council.

  - P3x-595: the natives of P3x-595 are called Tiernods, they are primitive people. They hide from predators in caves and use an Asgard device to Vanish.

The Asgard physical appearance is very similar in resemblance to those of the Roswell Grays in New Mexico.
The Asgard were taller and a lot more human looking 30,000 years ago. They had a less pronounced skull an a much more solid body structure. The Asgard�s appearance now Is because they genetically engineered themselves so much that the effects were irreversible and they could not change themselves further.
For at least a thousand years the Asgard have been unable to reproduce sexually. So instead they rely on an extremely advanced cellular mitosis: Cloning. When one physical body wears out they clone another body and transfer the consciousness. Making the Asgard practically immortal. But over the many Generations of this process, there was a great lack of genetic diversity and has started to negatively effecting their physical makeup. To help slow this process they introduced a controlled mutation, but they have reached the limits of their technological capabilities and may not be able to keep doing this forever.

The Asgard are far more advanced than any other race in our galaxy.
They�re standard ships can travel through hyperspace, hundreds of times faster than the speed of light, making it easy to travel from one end of the galaxy to another is practically no time at all.
Their ships also have a cloaking device that can leave them completely undetected by satellites, telescopes and all earth technology. Because of this cloaking device it has allowed them to stay in orbit of Earth with out detection and they have also landed on earth aswell. Thor the head of the Asgard fleets ship, The Biliskner is powered by four neutrino Ion generators. The O�Neill (named after the Commanding Officer of SG-1) was created solely for the purpose for fighting the Replicator bugs. Its hull was made of Carbon, Naquada * and Trinium **. It was the most technologically advanced ship the Asgard had ever created, and Major Sam Carter blew it up, but with good reason of coarse.
Holographic communicators (known as a Holonet in Star Wars) allow communication face to face over very long distances, even between galaxies. Although the further away the message is coming from the poorer quality the image and sound is.

*Naquada is a very strong mineral not found in our solar system. It is what the Goa�uld use for most of their technology and is what the Stargate is made out of. Naquada can be also use to Generate power. Also it is a very dangerous weapon that could blow us up a hundred times over. Its even more dangerous if it is mixed with potassium (K).

** Trinium is a rare metal that is also not found in our solar system in its raw form it is quite brittle and brakes quite easily but when processed or combined with another metal such as Titanium it can become extremely solid and is almost impossible to penetrate. It was combined with the stargate�s original Iris to make it much stronger.

Thor: Thor the commander of the Asgard Fleet. Thrudvang is his home. He has the world of Cimmeria under his tight protection. and seems to be a bit of a softie for Earth, Or Maybe Just Colonel O'Neill (But who wouldnt?). Thor is at least a thousand year old!

Heimdall: an Asgard scientist working on one of the Asgards most important projects in the Adara System. He has been working on it for six months and seems to have never met a human before. But he had heard of Sg-1 and was interested to meet them. Heimdall has been working on the genetic history of the Asgard in his lab in Adara.

Freyr: seems to be the head of the Asgard High Council. He wears a heavy necklace with a large pendant and is filtered in purple light, he does most of the talking on behalf of the Asgard. He is familiar to Jack but is not as close to him as Thor is.
