Irregular Verbs

The verbs on the following pages are conjugated in all the simple tenses and in the imperative mood. The verb, its definition, its present and past participles, and whether it uses avoir or tre as its auxiliary verb are all listed (in that order). This is all you need to be able to conjugate these verbs in all the tenses and moods. To find out how to form the compound tenses from the information that is given here, go to Formation of the Tenses.

*The forms for each tense are listed in the order of je, tu, il/elle/on, nous, vous, ils/elles (and for the imperative, in the order of tu, nous, vous).
*Other verbs conjugated with the same pattern are listed below each verb, with the auxiliary verb that they use in paretheses next to them.
*For the past participles of verbs conjugated with tre, "(e)(s)" is written after the regular past participle because if a verb is conjugated with tre, the past participle must always agree with the subject.
*For verbs conjuagted with avoir, if the feminine form of the past participle is formed in some way other than just adding an e, it is listed in parentheses next to the regular (and masculine) past participle. The feminine form may be used when the past participle serves as an adjective, and if the verb is preceded by a feminine direct object.
