OCTOBER 10, 2001 - Beauty and the Beast
The Calgary Sun had an article with Jolene and Brannon Braga. I liked what Jolene had to say. Not what Braga had to say.
Here is just some of what Jolene said:
"It's the youngest cast of any Star Trek and it has a very contemporary feel. Everything is done differently. They're going all out," says Blalock, whose T'Pol, like Spock, has a chilly disdain for humans.
"They're big shoes to fill." Or in her case, pointed ears.
"I grew up with the original series. I'm a Trekkie."
Of course, it's doubtful Leonard Nimoy would've ever been caught dead in a catsuit (or gracing the cover of the current Maxim, where you'll find Blalock).
But, she argues, "Spock was the sex symbol. A lot of people think it was Kirk. But, no, it was really Spock."
The full article is now up in the interviews section. Click here to see it.

OCTOBER 9, 2001 - Advice for Jolene
At an EMusic/Yahoo chat, Tim Russ, who played the Vulcan Tuvok in Voyager, had some advice for Jolene. "The only tip I'd have had was to watch the other shows and the Vulcan characters. There are at least three or four of us now that are main characters. And a female on the feature film."
"I think she's actually doing a very good job, " he said. "It is beholden to the writers of course. And sometimes they will push the envelope on character behaviour."
Thanks to Trek Today for this!

OCTOBER 9, 2001 - "Hot Babe in Yellow"
A while back, I told everyone to think yellow. This is what I meant. I now have the above image from the short film Jolene was in, "Queen for a Day". Her part in it was only short. She played the character called "Hot Babe in Yellow". Perfectly named, of course!
OCTOBER 6, 2001 - "Jolene At A Glance"
Here is the full October Maxim Magazine "Jolene At A Glance" part of her interview.
Vital stats:
Though her birthday is March 5, anyone who asks the year risks becoming the victim of a Vulcan nerve pinch. Her name is Scotch-Irish, and before her ancestors came through Ellis Island, it was Black Lock, meaning "black hair."
Nervous habit:
"I've got this oral fixation with cigarettes and straws. Maybe I should check out chewing gum."
Time killer:
Coloring with crayons. "I draw everything. Volcanoes, cats, polar bears, ballerinas. I fill up notebook after notebook."
CD staple:
Bob Dylan. "He's the ultimate wandering rebel." In-the-mood music includes Led Zeppelin and Blue Oyster Cult.
Most recent nightmare:
"That these people doused my head in gasoline and then lit a match. Thankfully, I woke up."
Weirdest sexual request she ever got from a guy:
"Suck on my American tasties."
Drinking Philosophy:
Making sure she gets home and unplugs the phone. "I really like that feeling when I wake up in the morning and I know I didn't say anything wrong, my tits didn't fall out, and I didn't offend anyone. It really does away with the whole next-morning apology list."
Sensible Hollywood philosophy:
"It's diamonds in your pockets one week, macaroni and cheese the next."

OCTOBER 6, 2001 - Jolene Tops Google List
Last night I checked the Google Zeitgeist list. I was surprised to see Jolene at #1 on the list. She wasn't on the list at all last week! This is a list that keeps track of the topic on Google that get the most search requests. To be on this list at all is very impressive. It shows that people have a lot of interest in Jolene.
Here is the full list. To see it, click here.
