| Punch Directory HOME Legal Punches Jab- A quick short punch with your opposite punching hand. Doesn't do much. May catch opponent offguard. Straight- A straight punch used with the the full length of your arm. Hook- Your arm goes a little bit in a semi-circle. Roundhouse- Like a hook, but your arm goes in a wider semi-circle. Can be a very powerful punch. Uppercut- Your fist goes up to connect usually to the chin of the opponent. Overhand Cross- Your arm goes over your head, and connects with the opponent's temple usually. Like the opposite of an uppercut. This punch is very powerful if the boxer steps forward, then uses an overhand. Illegal Punches Elbow- When an elbow is used to hit the opponent. This is illegal. Headbutt- When a boxer uses his head to hit the opponent. This is illegal. It usually makes the opponent dizzy. Kidney Punch- A punch to the kidney. It winds the opponent. Rabbit Punch- A punch to the back of the head. This is illegal. Low Blow- A punch to the "gonads." This is illegal. Ways to punch Haymaker punch- When a type of punch is thrown (uppercut, hook) except it is thrown when closer to the opponent than normal. Step Punch- when the boxer steps forward then punches. The boxer does this usually to close in on an opponent. Combo- When two punches are thrown virtually at the same time from the same boxer. If your boxer is quick, he or she will do combos more often and more effectively. |
