Summer Reading Project
For this summer reading project you are expected to read Trimnell (2003) in its entirety. This is a rather simple text expounding on the virtues of bilingual or multilingualism in a highly globalized world. Based on this, it is seen as providing a compelling, simple backdrop to this course in general.
After reading this small book I want you to write up a short summary of no more than 4 pages (A4, double spaced). Focus on the aspects of the book which are particularly meaningful to you. This book is written from the American point of view for Americans trying to convince them of the virtues of multilingual proficiency. Assessing the Korean situation critically explain any lessons to be gathered from this very simple reading. Basically I want you to explain in brief what kind of meaning you have gotten out of this summer reading text and this means focussing on limited aspects of the text.
This write-up is due the second week of class on September 18th.
