My Friend Chris' 1989 Corsica LTZ
This is my friend Chris' 1989 Corsica LTZ.  This car had a 2.8L V-6 and a 3-speed automatic in it when he bought it.  The 2.8's oil pressure was dropping off, and so we decided to put in a different engine.  Chris bought a 1994 3.1L V-6 from a Cavalier RS that only had 1100 ORIGINAL MILES!  The car had been bought new, wrecked, and parted out.  The engine had been sitting in this guy's shop since then.  Chris bought it, and we proceded to pull his old 2.8 and 3-speed tranny out.  Chris bought my old 440-T4 overdrive automatic from me that I had taken out of my Lumina, and we mated that up to the new 3.1, and put the two up into his LTZ.  It wasn't a total piece of cake, brackets had to be modified, different halfshafts were required, and other hurdles had to be overcome to put the 4-speed transmission into the Corsica.  But, in the end, it is a good combination.  The 4-speed automatic has a 3.33 Final Drive Ratio, so in lower gears there is good acceleration, but yet the overdrive gear is nice and tall and keeps the RPM's low when cruising.  This car is very fun to drive, and has one of the ballsiest 3.1's I have ever driven.  We have casually drag raced a couple stoplights, his LTZ against my Euro 3.4, and he was nipping at my heals!  :)
More pics to come, but here are a few of pulling, well actually, dropping the engine and transmission, and then the "new" 440-T4 automatic at the bottom of the page.
