Theoretical and Research Influences for Pedagogical Practices
Howard Gardner is one of my favorite theorists. He reminds us that our students are unique individuals. They may very well excel in other areas that are not necessarily academically related. As teachers, we will need to attempt to recognize our students strong points and individualize our curriculum as much as possible to suit these students.
Benjamin Bloom is another one of my favorite theorists. His ideas of the six progressively complex levels of cognition will certainly affect just about every teacher in the profession. After all, every question that we as teachers ask can be related back to Bloom's six levels. Along with this, many of the objectives we will write as teachers will reflect Bloom's taxonomy. His theory will be present everyday in my classroom and probably the majority of my colleague's classrooms as well.
