06:39 PM - Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem Post
Ehud Olmert gave an interview to the French edition of Jerusalem Post re: his statement in December that Israel should unilaterally withdraw from Gaza and most of the West Bank.
I plan to post some excerpts of this interview. It may also be in the English edition, I have not checked.
UPDATE:
Basically MK Olmert proposes: unilateral withdrawal from Gaza, and from the parts of the West Bank not covered by the planned route of the security fence.
He wants to limit and eventually end the presence of Pelestinians from the WB and Gaza in Israel. To give them financial and food aid, but no more jobs.
The fence will become an effective border.
He wants to include Ariel and Immanuel, which is a large addition to the existing fence, that does not cover these areas. And he says it can be debated in the Knesset whether to include Hebron.
Really, I think that the best security is a treaty. Failing that, a reasonable guarantee of security would involve a fence that protects Israel while minimizing the border area that IDF has to defend.
